Your question is a bit vague so I'll do my best to pinpoint some things for you.

.

Here are some of the best in the most prominent divisions.

.

This list is in no certain order. It also differs from my usual lists. I tend to list champions by their In The Ring merits, which differs from historical.

.

To give an example, Rocky Marciano likely ranks above Lennox Lewis. However, it is highly unlikely that Marciano would beat Lewis In The Ring. FAR too much difference in size and talent.

.

This list consists of some of the very best in their respective divisions.

.

Sugar Ray Robinson.

Henry Armstrong

Muhammad ALI

Joe Louis

Harry Greb

Roberto Duran

Willie Pep

Rocky Marciano

Jack Johnson

Larry Holmes

George Foreman

.

Sam Langford

Ezzard Charles

Marvin Hagler

Sugar Ray Leonard

Thomas Hearns

Julio Cesar Chavez

Salvador Sanchez

.

Note: I omit current fighters because of your question. However, there are those, like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao and Wladimir Klitschko, who belong on the all-time lists.

.

Note: You asked if George Foreman should be ranked with ALI and Tyson. He ranks not far below ALI and clearly above Tyson. Both won titles with their respective power. Both lost to clever boxers. Prime Tyson avoided Old George during George's second career.........with good reason. Believe it or not, Old George stood a better chance of beating Tyson than did Young George, though I believe both would have beaten him.

1.Sugar Ray Robinson

2.Henry Armstrong

3.Harry Greb

4.Muhammed Ali

5.Willie Pep

6.Bob Fitzsimmons

7.Roberto Duran

8.Jimmy Wilde

9.Archie Moore

10.Benny Leonard

Top10 any division? Absolutely not Ali is the only one out of those guys who can stake a top 10 p4p claim. Marciano never fought a great in their prime. Louis, Moore, and Walcott were all way past prime. And Charles is only one I give him credit for and e was even over the hill, watch Lloyd Marshall fight to see Charles at best. Foreman was mainly do to strength but he lost his biggest fight and his comeback int quite enough to get him top 10. Tyson fought a bunch of bums coming up and the death to cus and his jail time never let us see his true greatness. And on top of that he lost to every big name fighter on his resume. As for Dempsey he only beat people he could bully. That is why he lost when he faces a pure boxer like Tunney ad ducked Harry greb and sam Langford.

My top 10 p4p

Ezzard Charles

Harry greb

Srr

Armstrong

Ali

Langford

Pep

Benny Leonard

Joe gans

Duran

But it'll prob be different in a week.

you want to get a good book of past champions you haven't mentioned any other weight than heavy George Forman and Mike Tyson were just bruisers little boxing skill there have been loads of brilliant boxers at all the weights heavy gets all the glamour what about Sugar Ray Robinson or Thomas Hearns champion at three weights that takes some doing the brown bomber Sugar Ray Leonard get a book it's very interesting to read about them and their lives

Ali, Robinson, Armstrong, Duran, S.R. Leonard, Louis, Pep, B. Leonard, Langford, J.C. Chavez.

Ali and Marciano, yes in the heavyweights.

Muhammad Ali is the greatest boxer in the history of boxing.

George foreman and mayweather Joe cazaghi i think i spelt it right.?

Would names like Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Rocky Marciano, Dempsey occupy slots in that 'top 10 greatest of all time' list ?

Was George Foreman really that good ? was he in the same league as Ali and Tyson ? Ive only ever seen two fights of his and never really thought highly of him - but ive not seen many of his fights from the archives.

So would all those names I just mentioend WALK into the top 10 list straight away or are you sceptical a bout one or more o those names being in that list ?

boxing enthusiasts, historians and critics i wanna hear from you all please.
