Who here thinks floyd now is ready to fight a very strong champ like canelo?

@sean

alexander and malignaggi currently are champs...but are they strong?

point of the weight issue regarding canelo is....if he goes down 147...or comes in 150 at fightnight he loses his only weapon...and that's his KO punch... but what the heck, that's tradition to any mayweather show, right? but obviosly that last demand, "150 at fightnight" is so ridiculous and nothing but another smoke screen to duck the fight....

that's why floyd's skill will always be in question...

First of all I love and respect Floyd he is one of the best fighters I've seen since Roy jones was in his prime. But let's keep it real for a minute Shane,Oscar, cotto,Marquez, an all the name brand fighters he has fought in the last over the last 7yrs have been at the end of there careers. Honestly think about it Ortiz and hatton are the only fighters he fought that were at there primes and he knew those were wins. He didn't wanna fight Shane when he was still Shane he made excuses when it came to PAC-man let yrs go by he wanted no part of Felix Trinidad in 2005 when Felix called him out. He selects his fighters very carefully because even Cotto at the end of his career gave him a good go so that only shows me that canelo is a younger, faster, power puncher, and counter puncher that will not only beat him but ko him. Floyd a tag an run but Canelo is great at cutting the ring in half. You-tube Floyd's last 10 fights an you will see what I'm talking about because in the last 3yrs you had PAC,Canelo,Sergio, Berto before he lost that were all in there primes and he fought Marquez, old cotto Ortiz and he sucker punched him with all his talents shows me as a former fighter he was worried.

Those aren't excuses, you're just a hater.

You are once again taking something that someone else said and putting the words in Floyd Mayweather Jr's mouth. Even if it were true, there really is no need for him to go up in weight at his age. He has done it twice and has proven himself. He is a natural Welterweight and he can't keep going up and down in weight whenever fans want him to. If the roles were reversed you would say Floyd is a coward for picking on someone smaller.

He didn't cry anything. He though Manny was on PED's, demanded testing not just for him but for any of his opponents. All his opponents agreed to it and he has kept it up. It wasn't specifically for Manny. That's something only haters say.

He didn't say anything about Alvarez. That was Floyd Mayweather Sr.

What you're saying is that since he is the best that means he should go up to Heavyweight if he has to to fight the best. He is WAY better than either of the Klitschkos. That doesn't mean he can go up to heavyweight and fight them. Yes he has moved up in weight before but Mayweather is only getting older. No matter how he looked against Guerrero, he is still a 36 year old man. Can he move up in weight? I think so. Would I like to see that fight? Absolutely. Is it smart to move up in weight to fight Alvarez? Absolutely not.

You just want him to lose. That's all it is and every time you will build up a fighter who is bigger or faster or stronger to beat him and then make excuses when Mayweather wins. If Mayweather ages well over night you will be so glad. Yet when Floyd Mayweather beats anyone who is older than him it's because they are over the hill.

Love your pi** and vinegar :)

But I think you have it the wrong way, the question really is do you think Canelo is ready to fight Floyd? If you asked me, Id tell him to avoid it like the plague.

Canelo could have a nice career and stay undefeated, more importantly he could justify not fighting Floyd because of weight and there would be no real complaints about it.

But the truth of it is, hes gonna fight Floyd and be made a fool out of. And if he does, he is going to have no one to blame but himself.

Look, Ive heard all of the hooplah about Canelo, and Im not biting, yet. Its not the first time a network has gone so far to hype up a fighter to watch them become a disappointment. As a matter of fact, its usually the fighter that the network DOESNT support that becomes the champion/superstar. SHOWTIME had chosen Arthur Abraham to win the Super Six tournament, Andre Ward was just a participant. Go even further back for examples the network chose. Jermain Taylor, Prince Hamed, Shane Mosely. Disappointment, Disappointment, Disappointment.

There are only two names of consequence on Canelo's resume, and of those two names only one is of any worth. Austin Trout, who became a "formidable opponent/force to wreckon with" after doing a "tap tap-RUN" job on an old, no wheels Cotto. And Shane Mosely.

Here is my problem, and its a real concern. How come Canelo, force of god that he is, didnt dispatch with Shane Mosely with a vengeance? Shane was still fighting with him in the 12th round, and wasnt ducking his power. Granted he didnt like the hits he was taking but he wasnt afraid of getting knocked out either.

But in boxing, the young are supposed to take out the old like teenagers take out the trash. And Canelo did not do that. He should have retired Shane with an ugly beating and a K.O.

Why is this relevent? Because of the fight Shane had with Mayweather. Lucky shot in the second round not withstanding, Shane was AFRAID to come in on Mayweather. He wasnt just getting hit he was getting HURT. Its why he stood on the outside and bounced on his feet. He was afraid, he was confused, he was gassed, and he was hurt.

None of those things Canelo could do to Shane.

So, I think your question should be, is Canelo ready to step up his game? Or is he content beating on the Bum of the Month Club he has been on?

Floyd always fights champions. He is 19-0 vs champions. Who else can say that? I personally think Floyd should fight his remaining fights at 147. At 36, you can't jump from weight to weight. Floyd is the cash cow. If Alvarez wants a Mayweather payday he better come down. There is no way Floyd should

enter the ring with Alvarez knowing he will be around 152 lbs and Alvarez will be 170 lbs. Floyd can still win but this dangerous. Not in terms of a boxing match but in terms of life after boxing.

He's fought only mediocre champions recently. He should fight Canelo before he get's too good.

man, i hate those "mouth foams"...and the angle of the cam....ewwww!!!!

w/ pac who is smaller than him.... he cried PEDs

now w/ saul who's just 1" smaller than him... he cries TOO HEAVY?????

man i dont know what's that got to do w/ him being the best...

canelo steps the ring heavy, his punch becomes heavy and slower... what's the problem?

the best always has the answer and the blueprint to beat his oppopent inside the ring... if there's a will theres a way, right?... do you think floyd got the will????
