Should you try to hurt your opponent or outbox them to the end?

In the amateur ranks should you try and outbox your opponent to the end or should you try and hurt them perhaps even ending the fight early.

To hurt your opponent, you must get up close to them... This involves taking a risk of being counter punched. If you have the speed and the skill to outbox them from a distance - Then that would be the logical way to win...

Fighting up close and personal - You will get tagged at some point.

(Amir Khan got countered by Garcia - Bradley nearly came unstuck against Provodnikov)

I would say that it is always the best to try and to outbox your opponent unless you hurt them with a good shot. In that case, go for the knockout without being careless of course. The name of the game is to hit and not get hit as much as you can and to outpoint your opponent.

Try to outbox them first. If the KO happens, it will happen but don't try to force it. Especially in the amateur ranks. We all saw what happened to Manny.

you should try to aim for both
