Who is the greatest boxer of all time is it Mike Tyson r Muhammad Ali?

Breezajd23,

The Greatest Boxer of all time is not Tyson or Ali, it is the opinion of most Boxing Historians, Ring Magazine (The Bible of Boxing) and the former KO Magazine, that Ray Robinson, The Great Sugar Ray is the Greatest Boxer of All Time. With that being said of the two fighters that you mentioned Tyson or Ali, Ali is by far The Greatest.

History has already judged these two fighters and one can not argue with History that is backed up by facts and those who are still alive to verify that History. Ali was grace personified in the Ring while Tyson was indeed the Bull and Bully and was his cloche of fear was taken away then he became a very ordinary fighter.

The best way to sum this question up is by a quote from a fighter "Ali is a LEGEND for a reason, he's one of the Greatest Fighters of All time and has done more for the sport of Boxing than ANY Boxer alive or Dead. I couldn't hold a candle to him." Mike Tyson, Rolling Stone Magazine Interview. Kinda hard to argue with that.

Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest boxer of all time.

Ali was the best heavyweight in the history of boxing and his life outside the ring only added to his "greatness"

Claiming Tyson was a "great boxing" is simply false. There was nothing great about Mike except his punching power. He whacked a lot of C and B rated opposition but lost badly to the A level fighters he faced in his career and never beat a top level fighter at that fighters peak. There have been dozens of heavyweights better than Mike in boxing history, and Ali beat a half dozen of them, Mike never beat any great fighters, Ali beat a lot of great fighters and comparing Mike to Ali is an insult to Ali.

Ali. He was bigger than boxing and his accomplishments in and out of the ring speak for himself. Mike Tyson was a gifted athlete and an outstanding boxer but he self-destructed. Unfortunately.

Ali > Tyson

By a lot!

Neither, "Sugar" Ray Robinson is the greatest p4p boxer of all time. Between Ali and Tyson, it comes down to opinion and who you liked more. Ali had tougher competition than Tyson did in Frazier, Foreman, and other tough fighters during the golden era of the heavyweight division, but what Tyson was able to do was very impressive as well. Maybe if Cus had lived longer Tyson could have been solidified as the greatest heavyweight of all time, or if Ali had been able to fight during the years he missed due to dodging the draft for religious reasons, who knows what more he could have accomplished. It's also hard to compare boxers from different generations, you can really only compare boxers that fought during their own times such as Ali and Frazier, or Dempsey and Tunney, ect. Tyson was the greatest during his time, and Ali during his own. It comes down to who you think is the greatest and who you favored more.

I seen mike tyson today!! Anyways This is hard to choose but I slightly think Ali is the greatest of all time but its very close.

LOL!!!!

Tyson is a mediocre fighter. He is extremely overrated by the American boxing media, whereas Ali really is in the top 5 greatest fighters of all time. In my eyes, Tyson barely makes top 25 greatest heavies of all time. I give props to him for his wins over Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks, but that's about it. There are other great champions out there who have more impressive wins than Mike Tyson. Take Hasim Rahman for example. He holds wins over Ross Purity, Lennox Lewis, Corrie Sanders, and Kali Meehan. You will never see him on a Top 20 Heavyweights list.

The title of greatest boxer of all time is between Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Willie Pep, and maybe Roberto Duran. Mike Tyson is not even close.

Tyson, top 25 greatest heavyweights of all time, top 50 greatest fighters of all time. Ali, top 5 greatest boxers of all time, either 1st or 2nd greatest heavyweight of all time. The title of greatest heavyweight is between Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis primarily, with Marciano, Foreman, Holmes, Frazier, Johnson, and Dempsey not far behind.

Im tired of people say ray robinson is the greatest of all time just cuz he won over 100 pro fights ali is the greatest of all time and as for tyson hes not even better than joe louis or evander holyfield so tysons barely in the top ten of all time

Tyson wasn't even the best boxer of his decade, let alone all time.

mike the iron tyson

tyson from 1985-1990

Ali for sure....Tyson sucks D, he has only one way to do thangs, and he lives and diez that way.

every has different opinions , but i think that you cannot compare fighters from different eras ,you can only compare them to their contempories
