Why are lunging punches consider bad technique?

My coach ***** at me when I do it.... But I see fighters like floyd and manny do it

Lunging punches usually leaves you off balance and vulnerable to counter punches ,especially if it doesn't land.

If you must throw lunging punches ,be sure to lean into it and duck your head waist height as you step away and out of danger ,at the same time resetting your stance.

When you lunge in with a punch, you usually leave yourself wide open for counter shots. Only the quickest fighters can do it well and get away with it, but once they age and slow down, Tarver's left hook on Jones and Marquez's counter over hand right on Pacquiao is how they pay for their mistakes. Not a good idea to lunge with your punches.

Floyd doesn't lunge. Manny leaves his feet, which is wrong, but he's fast enough and athletic enough to get away with it (most of the time).

You lunge, you lose your balance, and somebody could smack the sh*t out of you w/ a counter you don't see. Just look at Manny, he lunged at JMM with his hands down and got KTFO.

Don't do it, listen to your coach.

fighters can see it coming from a mile away

You loose your stability and balance which will allow someone to knock you over or use your off balance to pull you over
