Why do Ricans feel special that Trinidad "beat" DLH?

Because Oscar was the main man at that time and even after Tito controversially beat DLH, Oscar remained the biggest attraction up until his retirement.

ODLH may be held in low esteem by many boxing fans and pundits now because of his losses to Trinidad, Mosley, Mayweather, Hopkins and Pacquiao but just ponder, why did those fighters that beat him never attained the superstardom, the fan following and adulation and the kind of money that he enjoyed in his prime and even after those losses?

I dare say, neither Floyd or Pacquiao has eclipsed the popularity and wealth Oscar amassed especially in his best years. And Oscar needed not take to show biz seriously and endorse products as Manny has had to bolster his own popularity and fortune.

Trinidad and Mosley officially beat ODLH but where are those two now in the consciousness of the boxing fans, young and old, as compared to Oscar?

Yea he did win that fight omg I always hear that Oscar lost the fight to pernell I didn't see that at all as a matter a fact I was watching with about 50 black people in the tv room at a CDC an before the decision was announced everyone knew the out come an nobody complained about the decision just disappointed cause there man lost so I wonder if there is some biased opinions on this forum an as for Felix sturm yea he lost but everyone knew one he didn't belong at middle wieght an 2 Oscar wasn't being a pro an over looked that fight didn't prepare properly if Oscar took his career and preparation more serious an had better game plans his career could have looked a lot better he got to comfortable in his silk pajamas an partying

I am not Puerto Rican, I am African American...but when De La Hoya lost I was a happy man. Trinidad was a beast. He won a controversial fight, but he won. I chose not fight in the championship rounds and it costed him.

I will add, Trinidad is one of my all time favorites...and I dislike Oscar after I felt he was given everything after he won Olympic Gold. I never felt he beat Whittaker. I also felt he was given the fight vs Strum just so he could he could get a shot at Hopkins' unified Middleweight title... So glad he got knocked out!

History will be kinder to Oscar than Felix. Most people I know saw Oscar winning easily.

well, i tell you what, a lot of people feel ODH should have won that fight,

but it wasnt nowhere near the robbery that ODH vs Whitaker or ODH vs Sturm were.....those two fights were highway robberies

Beat My A S S. De la Hoya outlanded him badly and Trinidad lost big time. Even Ricans I've talked too admit Trinidad lost. Everyone knows Oscar whooped his *** and that decision was worse than Pac vs Bradley.
