Does Canelo have to weight 152 on fight night or can he rehydrate after the weigh in?

Canelo can rehydrate to whatever he wants, he just has to weigh 152lb the day before the fight at the weigh in.

Word to the wise, don't EVER listen to anything Skip Bayless says about boxing.

He literally doesn't know sh*t about the sport, that moron didn't even know Pacquiao was a southpaw a couple years back.

Talking heads who cover every sport, and then talk about a Pacquiao or Mayweather fight should not be taken seriously (unless they're Brian Kenny), b/c they're spewing ignorance and giving out false info to the casual fans.

That especially goes for Bayless, who is on that set-up debate show, and has this little image where he's cynical about all athletes and sh*ts on them constantly.

Skip Bayless is absolutely wrong about this.

1. "Catch weight" does not mean that the fighters are not allowed to gain any weight between the weigh-in and the actual fight. Bayless had no clue what he was talking about on that one.

2. In order for what Bayless was blathering about to make any sense, there would have to be some sort of rehydration clause included in the contract. There have been no reports that such a clause exists.

Basically, Bayless was talking out of his rear end. Huge surprise. Canelo has to weight 152 pounds at the weigh-in. That's what the catch-weight means. It's just a weight that doesn't fall within the realm of an existing/recognized weight class. In this case, Mayweather is a welterweight (147 pound limit) while Alvarez is a super welterweight/junior middleweight (154 pound limit). 152 is thus the "catch weight" for this fight, as there is no 152 pound weight class.

The short answer to your question is "No, Skip Bayless is wrong."

weight 152 lbs at the weigh in and rehydrate after so he will still be like 170 lbs on fight night.

I heard that to and Im 90% sure Skip is wrong in my intire career I never saw that and after hearing the Dan Rafeal talk it sounds like skip is losing his mind

That guy is a ******* moron there is no rehydration clause. Canelo can rehydrate to whatever

I heard Skip Bayless on ESPN say that they agreed to 152 catch weight and that Canelo CANNOT weigh more than that on fight night. Is this true and if it is what a b i t ch move by Mayweather!
