Why do some floyd fans doesnt want floyd's greatness tested?

Huh

I love this..."cherry picking". How exactly are you cherry picking when you have spent the last seven years fighting the top three in rankings??

Even if only fighting once a year, which by all logic should RING RUST YOU, he has one of the longest runs in time as an undefeated champion.

I mean, lets look at this LONG LIST of fighters he didnt face.

Margarito

Paul Williams

Manny Pac...

....so in three years, he is cherry picking because in that three years he didnt fight THREE GUYS?, over what, fifteen years? THIS makes him a cherry picker??

Well lets look at these opponents, at length.

Antonio Margarito: YEARS before he was caught, Mayweather (as well as William Joppy and SRL) were saying that his power was suspect. That his hands and balance were off and that he should not be getting stronger than he was as the fights went on. When he gets caught, surprisingly Mayweather is NOT credited for being one of the people that spotted it before Fisher saw his wraps.

Manny Pac: Its funny because when Floyd was pushing that boxing needs to be regulated for drug abuse, detractors called him afraid. Arum used Mayweather's platform as an excuse to get Manny OUT of the fight. But bust after bust (James Toney, Antonio Tarver) and finally JIM LAMPLEY is credited for the aggressive "anti drug" policies that boxing is instituting now?? Oddly enough after anti doping becomes a major push, Manny Pac gets dropped unconscious. Suspect timing to say the least.

Paul Williams: Was a six foot one welterweight, which I may add NO ONE wanted to see fight Mayweather.

I may add that I could use the same logic to Manny Pac. MANNY has also never fought Floyd Mayweather OR Paul Williams. And was ONLY interested in fighting Margarito after he was exposed and took a knockout L. Does that make him a "cherry picker"?

Does it ever occur to the naysayers that Floyd is not as dumb as he looks?

Look, I get it. The Mayweather family persona is EASY to hate. They are loud, irresponsible and very ignorant seeming. But bad management of your career is why you arent hearing the words "And new world champion JOE MESI".

Lets face the truth, and its a cold hard truth. The only reason ANYONE wants Canelo to fight Floyd, is because of his youth and string of knockouts he LOOKS like he could give Floyd a loss. Once Floyd boxed his ears in, they would say "He took him cause he was too young".

In the welterweight class, who is left to beat him? One name? Just one?

Exactly, thats exactly why he DOESNT cherry pick.

I don't know what Floyd fans you are referring to because in my case you have it twisted.

I would love for Floyd to go up and fight Alvarez. Do I think he would win? Absolutely. Does that mean it isn't a dangerous fight? No. Is it smart? No.

Why does Floyd have to test his greatness in anyway? He is already great and the best and he does not have to prove that anymore. I'm not saying I don't want him to fight certain opponents, I just don't look at it from an illogical point of view. I would love to see him take on Sergio Martinez at 160 lbs for the Middleweight Championship. Will it happen? No and I'm ok with that because I see the risk in him doing that. Besides, even if he were to do it or if he fights Saul Alvarez at his natural weight, he will not get the credit anyway so how can he test his greatness if he doesn't get credit for anything he does?

He comes back after 21 month layoff and fights the #2 Pound for Pound guy, Juan Manuel Marquez, who had just fought a war with Pacquiao and many people believe Pacquiao lost. Floyd gets criticized for fighting him because Marquez was smaller and because of the 2 lbs advantage. Yet people cry out for Floyd to fight Pacquiao when Pacquiao and Marquez were the same size. How can you say he is too big for Marquez but not to big for Pacquiao? Floyd would also outweigh Pacquiao so that makes no sense.

Shane Mosley gets in the ring and people start saying he is scared of Mosley, he will not fight him. Freddie Roach went on TV saying he will not fight Mosley or Berto. Mosley was coming off dominant TKO victory over Antonio Margarito. People were saying Floyd was scared and Mosley would knock him out. He was rated #3 Pound for Pound and ranked #1 Welterweight. Floyd beats him and they say he is over the hill.

Ortiz dominates Berto, using his size and power and determination. He is bigger, stronger, younger, and a southpaw. All the things people wanted in an opponent for Floyd. He was ranked #2 Welterweight but should have been #1. Floyd fights him and he gets criticized for taking on someone with no experience.

Floyd fights Cotto at 154 lbs, he didn't ask him to go down in weight like someone else did. The fight didn't happen in the past because of Bob Arum but as usual, the blame goes to Floyd for something he has no control over. Anyway, Cotto had more of a chance last year than he would have had in 2006 or 2007. He beats him and he is criticized for fighting him when he was past his prime when he was coming off 3 dominant TKO victories and had regained his confidence with his revenge over Margarito.

He takes a year off and serves time, comes off to fight the only challenger available at 147 lbs who had proved himself by fighting a top Welterweight. He gets criticized for fighting him too, which I understand but it isn't Floyd's fault there aren't many options at 147 lbs. It was a tune up fight anyway kind of like the way Pacquiao is fighting Rios when Rios is a C level fighter.

Lose-Lose situation everytime. However, I don't want him to avoid anyone nor do I think he does. Boxing is a business and sometimes things don't happen. You all need to stop putting the blame on Floyd everytime he doesn't lose. He can't help it that no one else worked the majority of their life to master their craft the way he has. He cannot help it that no one is as good as he is.

Floyd fans have a tendency to big up the opponents he has faced and play down the opponents he hasn't faced, but we all do that when our favourite boxers record is called into question.

Flloyd is a cherry picker he's a smart boxer that's all alvarez would beat him, pacman would beat him marquez got lucky last fight with pacman.

yea, they keep saying fighting canelo at 154 is too dangerous... yet at the same time, w/ certainty they claim floyd would beat the guy at that weight...

i presume that since floyd would beat canelo at 154, it's also the same to floyd fans if floyd just beat canelo at 147, only minus the bruises just like what he got against cotto, yea minus the thrill, the risk and the danger... if they didnt give canelo a fighting chance against floyd at 154, what chance do ya think they'll give canelo at 147 w/o power in his punches...??? a drained canelo aint a threat anymore at 147... but why do floyd fans loves this kind of fights??? why are they so content seeing floyd move against pillow punches in slow motion?

it seems people who are interested to see what would floyd do facing a dangerous opponent are more of a floyd fan than those who dont... cuz that only shows that his style can better anything inside the ring, sluggers, swarmers, power punchers, KO artists, volume punchers, counter punchers etc...

the more he proves himself, the more he will be admired...critics will shut up, skeptics begins to believe... floyd fans increased...aint that what fans should want for their champion...?
