At this stage in Floyd's career, can we expect him to end a bout via TKO/KO?

Another good question.

.

It's not likely that Mayweather would score a KO between now and the end of his career. However, it is possible. It depends on who he fights. For example, if he fights Amir Khan, a KO could happen. Khan could trouble Mayweather. However, it's been proven that his mindset is more a liability than an asset.

.

Like Curry and Mosley before him, Khan is a good boxer who scored a few KOs then chose to abandon his abilities for the dramatic KO, only to be knocked out himself. It's very possible --and likely-- that Khan could abandon his skills and get caught. Depending on how sloppy his defense is, he could get stopped.

.

Mayweather was a beast at 140 but the money is at 147. It's always been that way. That's one reason why Duran didn't bother to stop there. . At 147 and 154, Mayweather is beating naturally bigger men. It takes a bit more power to knock them out. It also places him at a bigger risk.

.

I think Alvarez' refusal to touch gloves with Mayweather was a combination of seeking a psychological edge and feeding into his own press.

.

Like the US, Mexico is also color stricken. Alvarez is very popular because he's a good fighter. However, Mexico has produced hundreds of good fighters. Anyone who doesn't see that his appearance, that of a pure Irishman, doesn't add to his allure, is just not being realistic. Lighter skinned Mexicans are usually favored over darker skinned ones.

.

The other issue is the belief that any show of respect leaves Alvarez that much more vulnerable to Floyd's fight plan. I don't think the Ortiz fight had much to do with Alvarez' behavior. I think he would still have done the same had the Ortiz fight never taken place.

Floyd isn't an aggressive fighter or at least, not as aggressive as he was in his youth. Fighters such as Mosley, Ortiz, Cotto, Guerrero, and Canelo should have been stopped but Floyd has completely removed his killer instinct. See his fight against Cotto, he buckles him in the 12th round but doesn't go for the KO.

You can also make excuses for the last opponents. You could say Mosley has never been knocked out. Ortiz was 167 on fight night. Cotto was 165 on fight night. Broke his hands against Guerrero. Canelo was 165 on fight night. All opponents have been bigger than Floyd.

I can only see Floyd stopping Khan and less talented fighters such as Guerrero.

Plus, l thought Alvarez was just frustrated.

I believe it is not that Mayweather cannot KO/TKO someone. I think he has become concerned about his place in boxing history as an undefeated champion. As a result his style has become even less aggressive so as to not take unnecessary chances in engaging opponents.

No, unless someone who's willing to just lay down on the canvass steps up and fights Floyd. I mean, FMJ doesn't have KO power. He just outboxes and outpoints his opponents.

I even said to myself I wouldn't be surprised if Floyd pulls off what he did to ortiz to Canelo. But Canelo didn't let him push him around and you could tell Floyd was surpised. But him getting a KO? He'll lose his arm.

only if the fight is rigged...

or his opponent has a glass chin

May it be s sucker punch or what, just a stoppage for Floyd in his last remaining bouts

BQ. Did you notice how many times Floyd appeared to touch gloves with Canelo in the said bout but Saul just refused? Was it because of what happened to Ortiz? or just lack of respect on Alvarez's part? probably both i guess
