Where do you live, What do you eat?

1) Northern California.

2) No, I grew up in Oklahoma, which was more conventional with an all all-American diet.

3) In California, each person is different. Perhaps as many as 20% is vegetarian, & I'm one of those. I also plan to try fitting in more aspects of The Mediterranean Diet.

4) Lounging around the house all day, I just ate snacks rather than concise meals.

I had a baked sweet potato & an avocado, mashed & made into 2 big sandwiches with mozzarella cheese melted on the toasted bread first.

Later I had plain yogurt with spices stirred in.

At some point in time I had a cup of apricot mango juice.

Finally, last night I had a frozen Amy's Pocket Sandwich, the variety containing a creamy broccoli filling, which smells & tastes something like chicken pot pie without the chicken. So, it sounds like barely any dinner at all. That's why I listed everything for the whole day. It wasn't much to eat, but I wasn't using many calories at all just sitting at the computer & going out to get the newspaper, etc.

A better diet would have been steamed veggies with tahini (often my side dish with breakfast!), cheese omelet, for lunch, rice & lentils & veggies with Indian seasoning, cooked apples that I make with chutney type seasoning, a couple of bananas, & so on for the day. That might be a more active day.

Some workdays also involve snacks that people bring as treats. For instance, the day before yesterday somebody brought in several types of bagels & 3 tubs of cream cheese. Since I was working late, I had 3 bagels with cream cheese in addition to both lunch & evening meals that I brought in to microwave. So, I had plenty to eat. (Lest you think that I'm probably a tub, I'll mention that I'm very underweight & always trying to gain weight.) Most of us at work either bring or buy something there like a burrito or whatever to heat in the microwave. Burritos & wraps are very common. For about 3 of us who are vegetarians, that may be a bean burrito or one of Amy's frozen meals or for any of us, something from Trader Joe's. I may instead prepare an entree at home from scratch & heat that. It usually is something with rice or quinoa or another grain. I also like to bring plain yogurt or rice pudding. There's a snack bar upstairs, & I may get a chocolate muffin & a banana as a mid-morning snack. I may have a lukewarm baked sweet potato or a couple of bananas brought from home. Mid-morning is prime time for me to feel starved, in spite of a big breakfast.

So, I eat more on a workday with much more food before work & at noon, but very little in the evening. Evening is for very light meals like soup or salad & maybe later, hot milk before bedtime. I'm not very hungry in the evening. Would probably eat it if somebody else cooked it.
