Who among Duran, Hearns, Ray, Hagler, Whitaker has the best chance against Floyd Mayweather

Rejin,

Hearns by far, one wonders how Mr Mayweather would deal with the one of a kind height and reach that Thomas Hearns had as a welterweight, unbelievable. I campaigned as a middleweight and super middle in my career where i won titles but i am only 5 foot 10, he is 6 foot 1. Not only was Thomas Hearns a freak of nature he was also a phenomenal boxer with devastating power in each hand. Mayweather is a tremendous boxer and one of the best defensive fighters in history however i just struggle to see how he could mount enough offensive to score points and win rounds because Mayweather likes to fight on the outside but that would be suicidal against Hearns for obvious reasons. Maybe Mayweather could show us something we have never seen before but I doubt it.

Enjoy you're day Rejin!

i think all these fighters give different fights towards mayweather, and would show if he trully is the best. duran would probably quit so would test pateince, hearns would test floyds chin but i think wouldnt be able to keep the distance as floyd is extremely fast with reflexes and movement so would sitll be able to counter, leonard would tests floyd ability to fight against a fighter faster than anyone he has ever faced, hagler would test mayweathers skill to not let him cut the ring and how he would handle one of the best swarmers ever with one of the best chins( i see hagler coming out straight for the kill in the early rounds like hagler vs hearns and after 3-4 rounds if he hasnt knocked him mayweather would win the other rounds) whitaker would match floyds defense elusiveness and quickness so it might be hard to mayweather because everyone he has faced arent no where near as slick.

Hearns I think, because he is so tall for the weight and can really bang with that right hand. Mayweather is a natural counter puncher but going on the backfoot against Hearns would not be good for him. If Mayweather went on the backfoot against Hearns then Hearns would definitely go for for the finish as he often did any way.

Coming forward and Mayweather will be out of his depth also. Hearns had speed in his prime as well as power, was a good mover and had good skills.

His chin maybe suspect but Mayweather, whilst a capable puncher isn't a knockout artist at welterweight, where as Hearns was. Also, Hearns fought with the best from welter to light heavy, whereas Mayweather has fought from superfeather to welter. I don't think that Mayweathers power would be any kind of deterrent to thwart Hearns from going for the finish as soon as the opening bell sounds.

Skilled as Mayweather is,it wouldn't be enough to stop the Hearns assault I think. Look at the bodyshots that Hearns caught James Blackgold Shuler with that set up the right hand, he'd do the same to Mayweather surely. You saw what happened with Mayweather when he fought Shane Mosley in that second round. Hearns would KO Mayweather early in the fight I believe. That's why he is number 1 to beat Mayweather out of the bunch I think.

Hagler would stop Mayweather in the fight I think between rounds 9 - 12/15

Leonard would win a popular decision and with Duran it's 50/50 depending on what Duran shows up. I'd lean more towards Mayweather beating Duran on points however, even a focused in shape Duran.

Mayweather often leads with the right hand, has the speed to do so and Whitakers southpaw stance would be more of a benefit to Mayweather rather than a hindrance, Whitaker would not be used to someone being so comfortable with his own stance, There might well be a clash of feet and other untidy things going on. With these 2 slick boxers squaring off, Mayweather is the cleaner boxer of the 2. He also has more power. I think that Mayweather wins by disqualfication in this match up , officially for excessive holding, but all his ducking below the waistline and other such antics frustrating the ref who wants a clean fight. It's a messy boring fight with Whitaker being more so the perpetrator of such a fight.

I would say Marvin Hagler, he never got hurt & he never seemed to have a problem cornering a fighter & getting them to slug with him. Hearns if he boxed he would have a good shot but Hearns had such a suspect chin. Whitaker was very slick & fast but didn't punch hard at all. Leonard might have been the most exciting because Leonard hit hard enough that would probably get Floyds respect. Duran if he could get Mayweather to slug with him but Duran would get frustrated with the boxing & movement & would utter the words NO MAS!!! I think Floyd would beat all 5 of them however.

I would say Pernell Whitaker would give Floyd mayweather his hardest fight. Because he matched Floyd on speed, slickness, and elusiveness. They also were great counterpunchers that made their opponents pay for there aggression. They would have many rounds that could go either way. But, I think that Floyd mayweather will take it by split decision. Because he will land the cleaner and the more effective punches.

Due to his power, reach, workrate and intelligence Hearns would be a huge problem to Floyd.

"Has?"

Well none of them seeing as they're all retired and 25 years older than him
