Definitely. Have you seen SPARRING at Wild Card? Those guys spar with intent to kill O.o Cotto could get hurt just sparring. The good thing is that Cotto will definitely build stamina because of Roach's mitt work ways and the intense sparring(assuming he doesn't get hurt there). Cotto is kinda old to be in a gym like Wild Card... If Cotto can take the punishment, he could win a fight or two, but not a championship.

Dont like it at all. I dont see why he left Pedro Diaz, although he lost he put up a valiant effort against Mayweather under Diaz. Not to mention Diaz is the current trainer of one of the top P4P guys in the sport IMO, and thats Rigondeaux. Roach has been on a losing streak for a while now and I dont see how Cotto's style will mesh with Roach's coaching.

i don't see anything wrong with this pairing , cotto is old enough to know how to train and to know his style of fighting , i think this could work well .

to me pairing cotto with roach is a much better fit than say when ricky hatton hired floyd mayweather sr now that was bloody stupid .

i would like to see cotto hang up his gloves but if not roach is a good trainer for him .

Miguel Cotto has been through so many trainers in the past few years. He doesn't need Freddie Roach for anything.

Cotto needs other things than just plain sparring. He's experienced doesn't need the extra fighting before training as much as others do.
