Boxing: On the MAYWEATHER documentary on Showtime De La Hoya said it was not Floyd's fault...?

That Mayweather/ Pacquiao did not happen. What's your take at this point on what is now boxing history?

LMAO @ crackhead with my wallet.

This is completely Arum's fault, but not the way people envision it to be.

Manny came to the table demanding half of everything, the purse, the PPV, everything. Now under normal circumstances this would be awesome.

But Mayweather is not only a boxer, he is the promoter. In fact, he would be putting alot of his own money up to make these things happen. HIS money would be securing the venue. HIS money would be buying the TV spots for "24/7" or "All Access". HIS money would be covering venues for weigh ins and showdowns, as well. T shirts, hats, casino..heck at one point Floyd offered to pay half of Mannys purse out of pocket.

So in the end payoffs, you have Manny wanting half the purse, Floyd getting half. Floyd and Bob Arum recouping their losses as promoters (as well as getting profits for their investments). But now you also have to pay Manny as a promoter? For money that he never put up?

THATS why a 60-40 split was refused. Its also why Floyd said if Manny wanted to make this fight happen he would have to get from behing Arum. Arum knew Floyd is no dummy and is not going to dig out of his own pocket (lets face it Arum wont) to pay Manny profits from the promotions side of the fight, that literally eats into MAYWEATHER PROMTION profits. That would leave NO money as a profit, in the end Mayweather would literally break even. Why bother??

After the third JMM fight, Floyd was there offering half a purse, with a secured venue (saying Bob should offer the other half the day of the fight). Arum refused saying they wanted a JMM4. The venue was used for the Ortiz fight.

As little as Galactus believes DLH, I believe Arum even less. I understand ODLH being salty about Floyd, Floyd clowned him and made him look stupid. After Golden Boy sicked Mosely after him and he got debacled, ODLH's story changed.

But Arum is a different beast. To put it in perspective, Floyd offered Manny more money to fight him in one fight, than what Manny got in his last TWO losses.

First, if Oscar de la Hoya told me water was wet, I'd have to stick my hand in it. I wouldn't take his word for it. Oscar has made a career of saying what he believes people want to hear. Two years ago he had nothing nice to say about Mayweather and, according to De la Hoya, everything was Mayweather's fault.

.

Today, Oscar benefits more from doing business with Mayweather than he would with Pacquiao. So, according to Oscar, everything is Pacquiao's fault.

.

The truth is that the majority of the blame lies in the lap of Bob Arum. Both fighters are partially to blame as well. Neither is totally blameless.

.

Today, I can see Mayweather's point a bit clearer. Still, I have to give him part of the blame. I know he has money but for the amount of money this fight would have generated, I'd FIND a way to make it happen. I don't buy the fear belief that Floyd's detractors like to pass around. I think it was ego.

On the other hand, I the part that I do understand is Floyd's reluctance to allow Arum to call the shots. In that regard, I can see why he'd allow a huge payday to slip by. He has the buying power to make a lot money no matter who he fights. Floyd would still have made more fighting Pacquiao but he doesn't really need Pacquiao as much as Pacquiao needs him.

.

Pacquiao is also at fault because he should have simply TOLD Arum to MAKE THE FIGHT. I blame Manny a bit more only because he had more to lose. Arum takes a HUGE percentage of Manny's money. This is why he should want to make a fight happen that will give him a bigger purse.

It doesn't matter what Manny earns, Arum will still take what he wants. If you don't have the backbone to stand up to your promoter, the next best thing is to make as much money as possible so you will have something left.................after he'd done raping you.

.

No one person or involved party is blameless. . . . .

.

I trust de la Hoya's word as much as I would trust a crackhead with my wallet.

Oscar must've said its Pacquiao's fault, Sean.

Anybody who knows boxing, knows that dela hoya and floyd are buddies...Infact, Floyd uses GBP to back it up every fight...So i dont expect dela hoya to talk sh!t about floyd since he is making money every floyds fight...While we all know dela hoya hates pac for signing with top rank few years back...

and what merit does it gives to floyd, ODLH works w/ floyd...

HELLLLOOOOO, macfly, anybody home?
