Boxing: Does Floyd have to fight Canelo Alvarez?

Floyd Mayweather can fight anyone he wants right now but he doesn't just choose whoever. Right now Alvarez makes the most sense because it sells. Mayweather has a lot of haters who want to see him lose so give them a young, strong, hungry lion who is much bigger than anyone he has ever fought.

He is also a huge attraction with Mexican boxing fans. He is with Golden Boy, not Top Rank like Pacquiao is, so the fight is easier to make. The fight makes sense.

However Alvarez also fights one weight class above Floyd and there is no reason to expect him to move up again when it's not even his best weight class. I mean I want him to but if were to choose not to, hey, he's the one who has to do it not me. Alvarez also comes into a fight, would come into the fight nearly 4 weight classes above Mayweather.

He really don't have to however Golden boy is gonna push that fight really hard. In the end is up to him he can fight him or end up fighting somebody like Danny Garcia (who is way overrated) or Lucas maytassee (who no casual boxing fan know about) PPV numbers really don't matter Floyd is guaranteed x amount of pay in this deal with showtime.

This is prolly the best time to fight Canelo to he is inexperienced and Floyd is still not showing alot of sligns of slowing down. If he waits any longer It gets more dangerous. It also makes people think he is a coward their is no excuse for not fighting Canelo in September. This fight needs to happen for boxing or more fans are gonna give up on this sport.

but he avoided the fights in his career that posed the most risk so i cannot excuse it when people are calling him the best

of course i cannot deny his elite talent but guys like ali and frazier fought anyone.they proved their greatness at the highest level of adversity because they were willing to put their legacy on the line and not pad it up.

floyd has padded his career with some great opposition but he has never really challenged himself to the fullest extent

today he sits at the top of many a p4p list but i don't know why because we have ward who over the past 3 years has taken on all comers and has beaten the best there is to offer and i believe he will continue to do so.

to be called the current best you should have to continue fight the best.i think he will find the best in Canelo,Martinez or GGG.i think Sergio and GGG will bring just as much money as Gurerro

mayweather shouldn't take his foot off the gas cus he never went full throttle in the first place

Young dangerous lions? Mayweather's 36 years old. Practically anyone he fights now is going to be younger than him anyway. Alvarez will sell PPV's but Mayweather wins easily.

He is the best fighter in the planet right now, he should fight the best...If he will not fight canelo or martinez, boxing fans will always labelled him as coward, ducker, doesnt want to fight a fighter who is capable of beating him...I did not mention pac because it seems even before he doesnt want to fight pac...forget him, lets focus on canelo and martinez...hehe...

I think he should follow his dads advice and knockout danny garcia first. Easy knockout. Mayweather is at his peak while canelo is still developing I don't want this fight to happen to soon.

Does he get excused because he is no longer a young fighter and isn't require to fight these young guys...not to mention fight at 154 if he doesn't want to. Pacquiao isn't fighting at 154 either.

OR

Does he have to end his career fighting young dangerous lions, especially since the boxing public never got to see Mayweather/ Pacquiao? Is being the best (#1 pound for pound) require him to still take the biggest challenges? Is gonna have to fight Alvarez to sell PPV?
