Boxing: What do you guys think of the Ricky Burns - Frank Warren break?

Why NOW?

Frank Warren is losing boxers faster than he is losing his hair... How many boxers have walked out on him, how many have sued him, how many have shot him....?

(Only one boxer has shot him by the way.... But you get my drift..)

The rumor mill is working overtime, the dogs on the street have it that 'Frank Warren is broke'.

Frank Warren has invested heavily in 'Boxnation' - This is a boxing channel devoted to live boxing & boxing debate. From the very start, he has been swamped by technical glitches... People not being able to buy a fight from his channel.... He has suffered several fight cancellations due to injuries... He is never out of the courts, only recently legally separating from Tony Bellow in a bitter contractual law suit...All this costs money.

Frank Warren is a one man show... The book stops with him, as do all the bills. I fear that he has bitten off more than he can chew... Combine that with the global downturn in the economy, and the fact that the public are not spending as much..... Need I say more.

On top of all his financial difficulties, along comes a new kid on the block... Eddie Hearn starts forming a stable of the best boxing talent in Europe... Many of them being tempted by regular fights, improved earnings, media exposure.... The offer is too good to turn down.

Ricky Burns is a big name... He know's he must capitalise on his short lived career... He know's Warren is a sinking ship..... You can't take loyalty to a bank, and it won't put bread on the table.

Boxing is a cut throat business... Warren was once a big fish in a small pond... Now he is in a financial ocean surrounded by sharks... That's the life!

I'm w/ Olukayde.

Eddie Hearn seems to be the new boss in the UK now. Warren just lost George Groves, and now he loses Ricky Burns?

I don't know if Burns signed with Hearn or not, but either way Warren is losing the top guys and Hearns is signing them all.

I like Hearn, so props to him. I think Burns made the right choice.

I think most of the british fighters all want to be fighting on SKY TV its the most popular sports channel in the uk and they get a lot more exposure than any other station, Sky tv cancelled its contract with Hatton promotions so that mean hatton's fighters next fights won't be televised unless he signs with a tv station will to show his fights, Frank Warren has been number one for over 20 years but all his fighters do leave him at some point So what is that reason why they all leave him ? Money

Eddie "The Warrior" Hearn is the new face of British boxing promotions.

I'm hoping its so he can get in the ring with Broner

Why NOW?
