Has There Ever Been A Lineal Champion In 3 Weight Divisions At Once?

If not, could Floyd be the first by taking Garcia or Martinez? Plus he would be the first to win the lineal championship in 5 weight classes

I think Floyd mayweather will fight danny garcia at welterweight because it's more relistic. However, Martinez is a middleweight and I don't see him giving up that much of weight.

Henry Armstrong is the only linear champion to ever hold three titles at once.

He held the featherweight title, from Petey Sarron (KO 6),

then the welterweight title from Barney Ross (W15),

then the lightweight title, from Lou Ambers (W 15).

What's more amazing is that Armstrong logged 14 other fights during this TEN MONTH period. Imagine winning THREE World Titles and 14 other fights In 10 Months..

.

Bob Fitzsimmons held the middleweight, heavyweight and light-heavyweight titles but not simultaneously.

.

What's pathetic is that we even need to refer to titles as "Linear" in any sense other than the link to the beginning. Today, the term really means "He who held a title at a time when no other man held claim. Those days are gone.

Elisha; i know what you mean & the answer is the same;

Bob Fitzsimmons & Henry Armstrong.

Lineal Champion is a more modern term.

Back in the day we used the word ''undisputed champion''. Mayweather can be considered the undisputed champion at 154lbs, but not at 147lbs since you still have Bradley with a recognized belt [which he took from the former p4p king].

The only 3 division undisputed boxing champions in history were Henry Armstrong & Bob Fitzsimmons.

With that said; there were less divisions in their day.

Armstrong was the undisputed champion from 126lbs to 147lbs & everything inbetween [5 divisions today]. Many think he was robbed in his fight against the middleweight king, that win would have made him a 7 division undisputed champion in todays rule [but it didn't happen].

Bob Fitzsimmons was the undisputed champion from middleweight to heavyweight & everything in between. Again; by todays rules those are 5 divisions.

Henry Armstrong. Sugar Ray Leonard could qualify as he had won undisputed titles at welterweights over Wilfred Benitez and Tommy Hearns and also Roberto Duran, won the WBC title at junior middleweight later won by the same three previous victims Tommy Hearns Wilfred Benitez and Roberto Duran thereby making him the best of the champions in the division albeit not having made a single title defense at 154, and the undisputed middleweight over Marvelous Marvin hagler.
