Floyd Patterson VS Billy Conn

that's the Floyd who beat Johannson in the rematch vs the Conn that borrowed Louis title for 12 rounds

Conn fought the way he did againor st Louis because he had to ranged aganst a decidedly bigger, heavier and more powerful man who could turn around and finish the bout with a single well placed blow.

Do you think Conn would have fought the same way against Patterson who was almost his size and built and not well noted as a KO artist? And do you think he would have been as successful--at least for majority of the rounds given Floyd's matching speed, agility and mobility?

Perhaps Conn would have essayed the same strategy but I don't think he would have as successful because Floyd would have stayed right up with him and forced him to fight every second and every minute of every round.

Given Conn's still old style of upright, stand-up fighting, he would have been vulnerable to Floyd's straights and hooks, particularly his famed left hooks, one of which will eventually and abruptly end the fight by the championship rounds.

Floyd by KO between the 10th and 13th round.

I am going with Conn. Although he did not have a big knockout record he had enough power to stop Falling Floyd if he hit him with a good punch and he could certainly out point him if it went the distance.

Floyd should never have lost to Johannson in the first place.

If Conn could out box Louis he would surely out box Patterson.

Great match-up indeed! I'd go, however, with Floyd. He's quicker and better skilled, and, boy, he could hit with that famous "kangaroo punch".

That would have been a great match at lightheavyweight.

I don't think Conn had the power to finish Patterson but I think Conns ring generalship could give Patterson problems.

The fight would obviously end in decision. I don't know both men well enough to predict who wins but i'm certain it ends in decision. Conn beat harder punchers but I do not know if any were as active a swarmer as Patterson, & Patterson survived harder punchers at heavyweight

I think floyd patterson was a class act good fighter fast hands but conn not only had hand speed he had quick feethe gave joe louis trouble in their first fight i pick conn by 15 round pts victory

Thumbs up to Teddy. He nails this one. My vote goes to Floyd. Patterson feared heavy punchers and Conn simply aint no heavy handed.

I think Conn would win a close UD. Thrilla with Vanilla ~
