The desire to fight, moving forward, and effort do not win rounds, Hitting your opponent without getting hit win rounds.
Running away while hitting without being hit win rounds, even if their style is not popular or good for fighting.
If you think this was not a landslide victory you are judging the fight on what style you like not the performance in the ring.
A good effort does not win fights by itself.
It's amazing how many people hate Floyd/wanted him to lose, and allow that to cloud their judgment. All this 116 this and 117 that I've been hearing is crap. Even being kind, I might have given Canelo 2 rounds (9 and 10 I think?) merely because his workrate was so high.
But this could have easily been a shutout. That's why the drawn card was so shocking, but Ross does this all the time. She loves dem draws.
I gave Canelo 4 rounds, maybe 5 at the most.
Floyd 117-111. Floyd had control of the entire fight, and even toyed with him. Floyd won at least 9 rounds.
Say what? What fight were you watching? You and your likes could be pardoned for your initial impression of the fight. Try watching it over again on youtube and see if you will have the same impression. Floyd was toying with him except for the last round! Floyd could have even knocked him out but Floyd was practical, he will take the points win. It's like what the heck, Jordan could have powerfully rammed down that ball inside the rim against the hapless Lakers in one of his memorable highlight reels. But he shifted the ball to his left and softly lobbed it, kissing it against the backboard and down to the hole for two points. Jordan demonstrated graphically that a ponderous dunk and a gracefully executed.layup are both worth two points in that one-sided win by the Bulls. Floyd showed his brilliance and utter dominance not necessarily by ravaging and knocking out the hapless Canelo. WTF?
Honestly, I scored it 118-110. I felt generous doing that. I can live with 117-111...
In my head I had it at about 116-112 but that wasn't based on any real scoring just a general summarising of events.
C J Ross has come in for some stiff criticism after her 114-114 scoring of the fight on Saturday sparking calls from some for her to be removed from the NSAC panel of judges.
She gave 4 of the last 5 rounds to the Mexican but my question is how did you score it having watched it?
I watched it and scored it whilst watching live and I had it 116-114 in favour of Mayweather as I couldn't split them on a few rounds but of the last 6 rounds I gave 4 to Canelo. Did anyone else not do the same?
Some of those rounds were close and although I usually give those to the champion, I thought that Canelo's desire to fight, his come forward attitude and his effort edged it in some of those rounds. How much longer can you keep giving rounds to someone who runs away for most of the round and then punches as the round is closing?
Obviously Mayweather beat him but I don't think it was a landslide victory, Alvarez put in a good effort that night and landed a few good shots
