who wins?

If MArvin lost to Monroe, chances are he might just lose to the same Valdez who KO Briscoe., though i say, it'll be only on points. Hagler was just not marvelous that night against Monroe. Valdez will rack up the points early and be very careful not get caught by that smasher that Hagler throws. It could go either UD for Rodrigo in a very close fight, or KO even for the still green hagler if Valdez ever tries to lean his cheek against that thunderous left by Hagler. The former idea slightly favored

Hello Z and another great question! I've always considered Marvin Hagler one of the all time greatest middleweights of all time without a doubt as he was a fierce puncher, very determined with an iron chin and brilliant boxing skills. At this stage of his career, he was no doubt still learning and doing it the right way by facing tough opponents such as Willie Monroe. As you know Rodrigo Valdez gave another great Champ in Carlos Monzon all he wanted and even floored the great Argentenian. He also did the unthinkable by knocking out the seemingly indestructable Bennie Briscoe. He was an outstanding fighter, make no mistake about that. Was he capable of beating Hagler at that stage of each man's career? Yeah a case could be made but I still believe that Hagler wins this fight late with a surge at the end.

Hagler WTKO13

The great Marvelous Marvin Hagler of 1976, who lost to Willie The Worm Monroe by a decision, vs Rodrigo Rocky Valdes, of Colombia 1974 version, who kayoed a prime Bad Bennie Briscoe, on May 25,1974 in round 7, on ABC Wide World Of Sports, from Monte Carlo. Marvelous of 1976 was very green and his handler, The Petronelli's kept him away from World Middleweight Champion Carlos Monzon of Argentina. They waited for Monzon to retire. Another fighter that was on top was Ronnie Harris, who eventually lost to the man that dethroned Rodrigo Valdes on Apri 22, 1978, Hugo Corro.The1974 Valdes was actually pretty quick with his hands and threw a large volume of combinations. He had a sharp right cross, good chin, and a good solid defense. Marvelous has always had trouble with an opponent who could box,Sugar Ray Leonard, and Willie Monroe. Valdes did have scar tissue above the right eye. I see the more experienced Valdes scoring a unanimous decision. A more experience Marvelous could defeat Valdes in a tough fight.

No contest, Hagler would own Valdez at any given time frame in either's career.
