a defence or what? can i become one? please no stupid answer!!!!!
Slick means hard to hit. Like Floyd Mayweather or best example Pernell Whitaker as u can see in this HL vid
I still think this is a troll account...
A slick boxer is ring intelligent.. They don't engage in wars, they use their heads to nick the rounds.
A slick boxer would be defensive, mobile, know when to fight and when to keep his distance..
A classic example would be the Sugar Ray Leonard vs Marvin Hagler fight.. Leonard was no match for the relentless Hagler. Basically, Leonard danced around Hagler for the whole fight, only attacking Hagler in the last 30 seconds of the rounds... Enough to catch the judges eye..
Slick boxers are thinkers, they don't like to be ruffled.
Slick literally means very slippery or elusive. In boxing it means fighters who are very difficult to trap and to catch with good punches that would score because of their speed, reflexes, mobility including great defensive maneuvering skills and smarts. Under this category, we can say that Willie Pep, Nicolino Locche, Wilfred Benitez and Pernell Whitaker as well as Sergio Martinez and Guillermo Rigondeux are slick boxers, They are very hard to hit and are rarely caught with very good punches especially in their best prime. Mostly they elude or roll away from punches than catch or block them with their arms, elbows ar shoulders. To effectively execute this style, they have to have the greatest field of vision available which is not possible with both arms held high in defense or the so-called antennae defense. Hence a slick fighter is often seen with one hand held lower than usual or even held down by the side for better vision which is also an enticement for the opponent to attack while the other hand, usually the strongest offensive hand, is poised to strike or counter before or after attack by the foe is made or foiled. A slick fighter is also known for his great boxing and counter punching skills and abilities..
Thomas Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard also adapted this poise and although they were also hard to hit and generally elusive, they were ready and willing to trade punches than avoiding it or covering up in defense.
Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather can also be considered as slick fighters especially in their younger younger days but with their advancing age, they have lost some of their speed, mobility and maneuevrability, hence they have relied more on defense---the so-called rope a dope by Ali and the Philly shell .shoulder roll and his famed body armor defense by Floyd to neutralize the opponents attacks and to launch their own counter-attacks. I no longer consider Ali in his late prime and Floyd now as strictly slick fighters in view of this.
hey, slick let me give you an example: using your bare hands eels are hard to catch bc they are slimy...
so ther you go... slick means hard to catch.
to be slick, you need speed, good reflex, great footwork... you gotta learn to roll on unches when cornered... learn great defensive skill.
but if you got high densed bones, granite chin, and explosive punches... plus stamina and speed. to learn how to capitalize on such power... the path to take aint slick but forward type skill, its a waste if you dont focus on offense
Someone who uses his Brain to make up for physical disadvantages.
Already told you, you can't! !!!!!
someone please can you tell me what slick fighter mean?!! does it do with
