Well back in the day it was pretty brutal. No gloves, and barely any rules. I think the only rules they had was eye gouging and crotch shots.
Nowadays you have plenty of rules, regulations, and even rounds to keep the fighters safe. The **** from '93 wouldn't fly in today's society. It was just too gory to market to the public that it would remain as an unprofitable underground sport.
