If we knew the answer to this question, we would be promoting fighters. Roy was his own promoter, he never signed with the top dogs of his day (Arum or King) so I guess the only thing missing from the equation is Don King. King's waning influence in boxing must have opened the door for Floyd and Don must have closed it for Roy. Arum is still in the picture, but with the onset of Golden Boy and their work with Floyd's promotional company, I guess we are entering a new era of boxing promotions.

Roy jones jr biggest fight purse was $22 million..which he earned for the Ruiz fight..other than that his purses have mainly ranged between $10 million to $12 million....compared to Tyson or Floyd who both earned more than $30 million for several of their fights!
