Why is Pacquiao still reliant on a promoter?

why doesn't he just become a free agent? doesn't he believe he is popular enough?

Pacquiao despite his global stature is still a babe in the woods in the dog-eat-dog world of international pro boxing promotions so albeit having his own MP Promotions, he has not dared venture into promoting himself.

He latched on with Bob Arum after being victimized by Murad Muhalmmad and his sticking with Arum and Top Rank has drawn him in the vortex of perhaps the biggest promotional rifts and rivalries the sport has known that of the Arum/Top Rank-ODLH/Golden Boy ongoing feud. That might have made Pacquiao felt so unsure and helpless without Arum at his side.

But Manny has to realize that for his own good and the greater benefit of what remains of his fighting days, he has to get out of that vortex and explore what the boxing world could offer him as a free agent boxer who stands to enjoy the best that TR and GBP can offer him. And that richest fight is still against Floyd Mayweather Jr. who has fought fighters like Cotto and Marquez who are essentially free lance fighters.

He's not an astute, much less, a capable businessman. With very little education, he relies on other people to manage even his own business interests, and this is where he loses and continue to lose his hard-earned money. Some of his trusted business people rob him of his rightful earnings.

He is either too stupid or too loyal to leave Arum. He is popular enough to make more money without him. He can also fight whoever he want rather than Arum's recycled roster.

Because Pac is stupid and loyal, so it's extremely easy for Arum to manipulate him, and make Pac do whatever is in Arum's best favor.

@kalambre: No, I'm saying Pac is very stupid. Those were my exact words, so how is that confusing to you? Did you and Pac go to the same retard school?

I guess the same reason he stays loyal to Freddie Roach??

Pac seems to stay with the same team from the getgo.

I am laughing at some of the comments. The question is, who doesn't? Anybody who really believed that Floyd Mayweather jr. is his own promoter is stupid. very stupid. That is what Floyd said that he is his own promoter but give me any of his fight lately that doesn't involved GBP much more a fight that involved him and promoted by Floyd Jr. himself alone since he claimed that he is his own promoter. These fighters can always claim that they were their own promoter and anybody who does is lying in his azz. They need promoters and they all have one and relying on these promoters. That's the truth unless somebody can come out and show proof that I believed they can not.

Dya know about ungrateful azz? Pac ain't like that.

@Sticky: So you're saying everybody under TR are all stupid azzes? Be fkng real man.

1) culture, aint all about money

2) too late, he is at the finale of his career

3) practicality... job is easier w/ arum around

4) he got other careers, arums services is king

5) why do you think cotto went back to arum?

6) he aint floyd

why doesn't he just become a free agent? doesn't he believe he is popular enough?
