As to the invitations, I'm pretty sure you could design and print some awesome birthday party invitations by using Powerpoint or Publisher software on the computer (if you don't have the software at home, it's probably on the public library's system) - print them on scrapbook paper you can get in any crafts store like JoAnn Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart, Michael's Arts & Crafts, etc.
As to party ideas, I think you should make it all about music - do you have access to a karaoke machine, Guitar Hero game, Dance Party? It would be awesome if there's a stage they can perform on, the kids could wear their favorite rock star outfits If they seem hesitate to sing solo, let them break into groups of 3 people. At the snack table, they could design and make their own smoothie (if you can stand all that noise from the machine as well as the kids). I hope this is enough to get you started, have fun!
