yes to both. liston was the heavy favourite and was involved with some bad people. they probably put money on the fight and would therefore make more money if liston got beat by the underdog so they ordered him to lose. tyson seldon was fixed. don king probably offered seldon alot of money to lose so that he could make the tyson holyfield fight. tyson and ali probably would have won these fights anyway
I thought the fight when Liston got knock out was fixed. Liston was a beast and we all know Ali had a decent power but dont have enough strength to drop a powerful guy like Sonny, let alone knock him out. (One powerful and big guy, Foreman, whom Ali knocked out got dropped due to exhaustion. That even Ali had not connected, George eventually will fall) I always read about momentum and the force opposing it. There is no huge momentum in Liston's part and no great amount of force in Ali's punch that time to make the knock out feasible. This certainly will put a smirk in the face of every student of physics.
The Tyson victim, Bruce Seldon had no intention really of fighting and slugging it out with Mike. He just waited until Tyson lands and when he thought something connected, he got dropped and counted himself out.
Both fights Liston was a big betting favorite, and with his crime background when he lost both fights, many people thought he took a dive.
The first fight he quit on his stool, so everyone was really upset.
In the second fight, he said he was not hurt but lost his balance when he tried to stand up.
There was a newspaper article which stated the amount of money Liston made for both fights, and how much he earned per minute, alluding to his bank balance.
We will never know if he actually took dives in those fights, and his death also added to the mystery of his life, along with the fact there are lots of questions about is true age, and previous personal life, before boxing.
Which Ali Liston 1 or 2 I personally believe either was fixed and the Tyson Seldon definitely wasn't fixed because Seldon was terrified in a way that could not be rehearsed opting to go down from a glancing elbow and choose ot to continue..
They're not fixed. I think both Liston and Seldon took a dive. In the second fight, Liston took a dive out of fear of the Muslim militants and/or in complicity with the mobs. Seldon took a dive out of personal fear of Tyson and also to make easy money without exposing himself to much danger or damage. I believe Ali won the first fight squarely and fairly. I believe Ali and Tyson had nothing to do with what their respective opponents did in those subject fights.
We can't really tell because the people who knew the secret took it to their graves. But personally, I don't believe so. In the first fight, Liston surrendered on his stool, probably to save himself from a beating and further embarrassment. In the second fight, well, Liston might had taken a dive. The phantom punch was a legit punch but definitely not enough to put Liston out for the count. Again, he was probably saving himself from further embarrassment.
also consider sheldon tyson...
