Andre Ward vs Floyd Mayweather........Who wins?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
Before anyone says Ward is too big for Mayweather or its too much of a weight difference, its the same as Marquez going up two weight division to fight Mayweather.

So who wins?

Division wise it is equivalent to Mayweather v Marquez but in reality it's different because of the individual situations, yes he has fought a light middleweight 3 times but lets face it he was really pushing it by fighting a lmw. Mayweather walks around at like 152 max and just look at the all access contrast with him and Canelo, Mayweather was eating some massive meals to bulk up and Canelo was eating rabbit food to get the weight down.

Even fighting a welterweight is arguably too high for Mayweather just look at the 30 day weigh ins for his fights with Ortiz and Guerrero which were 149 and 148 respectively, contrast to Judah and Garcia's 30 day weigh in for the junior welterweight fight and they were 152 and 153 respectively. Mayweather isn't a big welterweight at all.

This fight wouldn't even be physically possible why? because unless team Mayweather got special permission to come in under 161 then it would just be cancelled at the weigh in. Mayweather is so built in at around 146-152 i just can't see how he would be able to move up fight Ward. Ward rehydrated to 176 against Dawson so he aint a massive super middleweight don't get me wrong, but at the same time he puts on significant weight overnight unlike Mayweather at welterweight.

The size difference weren't even that big on the night between Mayweather and Marquez, ok Mayweather never stepped on for his unofficial weight but lets face it based on his other welterweight and jmw fights it's safe to say he was no higher than 150. It would be very unlikely that for this sole fight he rehydrated closer to 160. The main thing like you said was that Marquez hadn't fought above lightweight which is a fair point.

148 Marquez to 150 Mayweather is a completely different story to 150 Mayweather vs 176 Ward though. Ward would obviously win if this happened but sometimes i just wonder why guys like Hopkins are fantasizing about fighting a guy 3 or 4 divisions below him when they have guys there own size like Kovalev and Stevenson lurking in the wings. Even Ward had his moments saying about a special diet plan to get down to 160 if the chance to get Floyd arose, get outta Oakland first lol. Crazy fightgame sometimes.

Edit: Ok I understand that but my main point about this is the weight inbetween fights. I guaruntee that Marquez didn't why around 135 and then have to stuff himself with tacos everyday to become 142, he surely would have been around 150 and then burnt that off. Mayweather on the other hand clearly walks around at no more than 152 inbetween fights and would therefore have to eat a sh.itload to PUT ON 14-16 pounds. This surely has to be considered. Yeah ok Floyd could put it on but it's just not practical to put on over a stone that your body has never carried to then suddenly fight someone who has been there from day one. By physically impossible maybe i exaggerated but he would have no training camp if he did this.

I see where you're coming from with the Marquez comparison but I will explain why it's different. When it comes to weight classes there is a reason why the weight class you start at is an important thing to take into account when talking about the highest weight class you should ever consider fighting in. The reasoning behind this is bone density and flat out natural build play a huge role in any fighting sport. Ward's starting weight class is about 50 lbs heavier than Floyd's which shows his build is naturally much much larger than what Marquez's is compared to Floyd's.

Crazy question if this is not a hypothetical one, and seeing that you used the Marquez jumping two divisions I can you tell that this is not the case-Floyd Mayweather Jr. Earned a bronze medal at 125 pounds

in the 1996 Olympics where as Andre Ward earned a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics 178 pounds in 2004-REALLY DUDE? if this isn't flat out crazy I only wait for you to ask how Floyd does against the Klitscko's next!!!

Both were Olympic Medallists, but Ward earned gold 53 pounds 24.04 Kilograms heavier than Mayweather using Marquez as any relative comparison that this is not an absurd question further verifies this question is laughable to any competent boxing expert!

No it is not the same as Marquez moving up 2 weight classes to fight him. Floyd started his career as a super featherweight and was even smaller before his career. Even though he is bigger than Marquez, he was a small man just like Marquez was. Andre Ward started his career as a Super Middleweight. He might end his career as a light heavyweight weight or higher.

so yea, Ward IS too big

Marquez may have gone up in weight, but he's still roughly the same height as mayweather. As for ward and mayweather, I honestly don't know although mayweather is a better technical fighter. I'm not saying he'd win, I'm just saying he's a better textbook boxer

Ward is too big. Going from 135 to 147 is 12 pound jump, that's been done before (Armstrong, Duran, Broner). Going from 147 to 168 21 pounds. That's 3 weight classes, unless you calling Floyd a Jr Middleweight. I get that he's won titles there twice, but he is not a true 154. He started at Super Feather...

Both Ward and Floyd are great, so the size is the difference.

Long story short.

Andre ward called himself #2 and called Floyd mayweather #1.

Andre ward know who will win.

P.S. A smaller man don't always lose.

Of course, Ward would win. Too big and strong

And no, it's not the same as Marquez jumping up to fight Mayweather.

ydsab if you believe that

dude, marquez was about to go welter anyway, while floyd, I cant imagine him goin up more than 154....

but if ward is a welter, he'd probably clean up the entire div, and yea, including pac, while floyd would probably stayed at 154 then retire early and still unbeaten

At 160, or higher Ward. Ward is just as technical, but has more power. Ward by UD, or late TKO.

Before anyone says Ward is too big for Mayweather or its too much of a weight difference, its the same as Marquez going up two weight division to fight Mayweather.

So who wins?

Floyd mayweather will win at 154.

Stupid to even compare. Ward had said Mayweather is the best fighter out there right now, and no one can beat him.

lol @ how you, for years, have tried to diminish or talk down on Mayweather.

It's actually kinda funny.

You're irrational, delusional and illogical 90% of the time. Don't think so? Look at your question...

1. Floyd will demand Drug test

2. Flyoyd will demand bigger money

3. Floyd wants ward to quit his promotion and join Mayweather promotion

the fight can't be made.. so it;s impossible

We don't know who will win because they never fought eachother. It will start a debate that is based on opinions.

EDIT: You are obsessed with Floyd mayweather.

Ward will ram through like a fkng truck as if Floyd wasn't there.lol

None of these cats can touch Mayweather

Ward lol
