Being a boxer should i lift heavy weights?

Being strong will not cause any limitations to a boxer. However, being bulky might. So I'd recommend using a strength-based program (high intensity with less reps) so that you gain strength and not mass. Also, I'd recommend doing crunches instead of sit ups (because crunches work your abs whereas situps primarily work you hip flexors), and I'd add squats to your workout.

It's fine bulk up. Tyson did heavy weights n didn't lose his speed. If u work out your push muscles like ur chest, triceps n shoulders, ull find your punches have more power. Don't listen to peeps that say its not good to lift heavy weights as it slows u down.... That's a myth

You can use heavy weights to increase the neurons response in the muscles you have without bulking up. Your weight depends mostly on your nutrition.

I would try using lower wiegts and a lot of reps. This will help with endurance and you won't gain as much weight as you would really overloading your mussels.

Do lower weight and do not get bulky or you will lose speed and performance

Will weights affect my speed and performance? I weigh 170 and want to fight at 160. My daily routine Consist of the normal jump rope, shadow boxing, heavy bag, etc...

I also Do a daily workout of push ups, sit ups, and pull up so i was wondering if weights were essential to my training.
