Boxing: Does Showtime have the right to veto any of Floyd's opponent choices?

...under this new contract?

Interesting question, I haven't seen or heard much about the particulars. Odds are good Floyd would have a say in who he is fighting, but I really don't have enough information to comment further.

Of course they do, why would any educated fan think differently? It's about time people in this forum move out of fantasy land and rent a spot in the real world. Fighters are nothing, and never will be, no matter how much you may like them or how much guys that didn't make it revere those that did. Let Floyd have a bad loss or do something that Showtime feels damages their brand and watch how fast this "best sports agreement ever" is voided and advances/bonus' are clawed-back.

I think Eddie hit the nail on the head. I don't think Floyd would agree to a contract if Showtime execs are dictating 100%. Floyd might be a P.I.T.A. to negotiate with --(Nobody was a bigger PITA than Robinson)-- or cut a deal with, but he has proven for too smart to give in to such demands. I don't see that happening.

Showtime has the right to make Floyd fight the best opponents available.

I am sure there are a lot of ifs in that contract on both parts but in the beginning of the night Floyd has more control who and where he fights.

I would suggest that Mayweather has 100% control over who he fights in the ring... I can't imagine Showtime dictating opponents to fight .... That's sooo not happening.
