Did Anderson Silva's humiliating first loss to Chris Weidman sound the death knell for the UFC?

He clowned and fooled around in front of a guy with 10 fights and got knocked out dancing like a buffoon. I don't think the UFC ever recovered from that and is in serious trouble.

The UFC had the likes of Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell who's the most successful UFC fighter ever, Randy Couture, Brock Lesnar, GSP, Matt Hughes, Tito Ortiz, Royce Gracie and now that these legends are gone there's Jon "Bones" Jones, Cain Velasquez, Daniel Cormier, Alexander Gustaffson, Johnny Hendrics, Antony Pettis, Chris Weidman, Lyoto Machida, Khabib Nurmagomedov , Ronda Rousey, Jose Aldo, Renan Barao, Rory MacDonald, Josh Thompson and so on. The UFC is FINE!

Can you find one sport in history that dued after a star was retired? I know you won't and since MMA survived the losses of Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Anderson Silva, GSP and the greatest of all, Fedor Emelianenko, then you can count that it won't die anytime soon either.

UFC shamelessly conspired to take Silver's title and give it to a white fighter......to which they succeeded.

the UFC has been in damage control since the emergence of Black fighters like Rampage, Silver, Bones Jones and others who have quickly rose to dominance in an otherwise white dominated league

Dana White and The UFC were looking to send a message, about who is in control. UFC is still a largely segregated league, and the UFC hopes to keep it that way to protect the careers of their best white fighters and appease the white fan base

anderson silvas still the greatest fighter in all of combat sports ever. 2 yea you dont really ever know what your talking about ufc ppvs dont do mayweather numbers but theres consistent ppv money being made on a monthly basis thats waaaay more stars in ufc theres way more ppl that fight fans will pay to see fight thats whys theres more ppvs. ufc is the fastest growing sport in the word but your a boxing fan who dont know much about boxing so idk why id think you know about mma

We have a lot of good fighters in UFC. UFC is not Silva alone, I am sure there will be superstars coming soon.

No, but that broken leg in their second fight sounded the death knell to Silva's MMA career, he was the best, but odds are long that we will ever see him in the ring again.

Silva toyed with Weidman in the first fight. The Spiderman learned his lessons the hard way; indeed with great power, comes great responsibility. Anderson was the face of UFC then, of the MMA world! There's nothing to take away from Chris, but Silva would definitely own this guy at any given day with Silva's right mindset. It's a shame really. The second fight was real tragic for the man who once was called the best pound for pound fighter in the world.

It sure had a toll in UFC. Its like Pacquiao getting knocked out cold by JMM. You simply dont want your sports heroes lose like that.

No sport can survive with only one star.

There are many fighters who are big draws to their fights, so regardless the loss or even Silva's retirement UFC makes money.

The UFC was making money before Silva and it will make money after him too.

No, the UFC is fine.

They have that fat FOX deal, and Anderson has always been an underrated but not overwhelming PPV draw (same w/ BJ Penn).

They're shoving Ronda Rousey down our throats now, and she sells PPV. She's no Anderson Silva, but her commercial appeal is much better.
