Was pattersons chin really that bad?

Not much like Khan's. PAtterson just aint lucky enough and got into the mix of the HW division when it was laden with such talent and its golden age imo for that matter. Floyd got knockout by Liston twice, a ferocious puncher. Actually, not a lot of heavy weight will stand up to that. Even HW champions of our time WLad or VItali, when got hit by Sonny wont beat the count. More so for Floyd, who i believe was nowhere being a true heavy weight. Floyd froze to fear and even before the heavy handed Liston touches him, he's already cold.

Was pattersons chin really that bad?

Not that. its just that his chin will do him no good

I don't think it's as bad as people make it out to be, b/c he was like a super-middleweight fighting at heavyweight. Andre Ward or Carl Froch aren't gonna take the punches of a beast like Liston.

BUT, he did have a bad chin. Stopped by Ali, Liston, and Johannsson. Dropped dozens of times in his career. I get he was smaller, so his notorious bad chin is a bit overrated, but at the end of the day his chin was definitely not good.

Floyd patterson was a great boxer with a glass chin. Any boxer with power i.e. sonny liston will knock him out. You can't train a chin because it's a part of a fighters idenity.

I think he was not completely out like stiff and twitching, he was still getting up but in bad condition. Was he ever out cold ?

he was knocked out 3 times in his whole career.2 of those knockouts were handed to him by one of the divisions greatest ever punchers,Sonny Liston.

i think he is often underated especially when compared to bigger men, many of which i think he

would actually beat.afterall he took quarry's and chuvalo's power, beating a bigo man in

chuvalo, and climbing off the canvas twice in one of the quarry bouts.

the other man to ko him was johannson. patterson avenged that decision twice by ko
