Boxing: Is the idea of Floyd going up to 160 to fight Martinez unreasonable?

He started at Super Featherweight, and some suggest at 36 he should try to move up to Middleweight to fight the 160 king, Sergio Martinez. Is this asking too much?

Sergio martinez stated many times that he is willing to fight mayweather at 154 which is no problem for mayweather....160 is too much but at 154 is no problem...Why would you want floyd fight sergio at 160 when sergio is willing and dying, begging to fight floyd at 154? I think if the fight is made, its gonna be awesome...Great fight, hope it happens...

If Mayweather moves up to 160, he will have to go back down to 147 or 154 for his next fight as there is no one else worthy at 160.

Although... i would be highly intersted in a 154 match between Martinez and Mayweather.

If Mayweather could carry the weight come in at 155 and after seeing Martinez last fight i think Mayweather could take him and grab the middleweight title.

as much as i dislike mayweather i have to say this fight at 160 would be a huge disadvantage to mayweather and he should not take the fight at 160 mayweather has never weighed more than 150 in his entire career even when he fought in the 154 weight class if you looked at the weigh in for his fights at 154 he still never comes in more than 150 there is no way mayweather should fight at 160

I think that it is unfair to ask him to move up in weight to face Martinez. Martinez has said that he can make 154, Floyd is the bigger draw, and he has fought at Jr. Middle. I think that it would be too much to ask at this point, especially since Floyd can still easily make Welter. Asking him to move up 5 pounds is not asking a lot, asking him to move up almost 15 is.

I love the way you protect your boy, Sean.

However, Floyd moving up to face Martinez is just the same as Pac moving up to get Floyd. Moved up to fight Cotto and Margarito.

And hey, nobody complained about asking too much, Sean. Just nobody.

Yes, it really is. Mayweather would be at a large disadvantage by moving up. This fight however, is no longer a fight I would look forward to watching. Martinez is entering his fatherhood and would get demolished.

trust me man, he wont even fight pacquiao. what makes you think hell move up to fight martinez lol guys a coward. dont expect him to fight any elite fighter before he retires

that's a joke, right?

can't even fight pacman @147... now it's 160...
