Who do you rank higher overall, Alfonso Gomez or Austin Trout?

Canelo beat both of them, but who do you think was higher ranked over all, Alfonso Gomez also has some credible wins.

Are you serious? Gomez never even survived against Miguel Cotto, the man Trout decisively beat in a defense of his once share of the world junior middleweight championship.

Gomez, a third placer in the TV reality show, The Contender, rose to prominence with his stoppage of the already shot Arturo Gatti and points win over another over the hill fighter Ben Tackie, both of whom had their best days as junior welters.

I don't think Gomez would have even survived against the likes of Alfredo Angulo and James Kirkland in their best primes. Oh, yes, Gomez was also beaten earlier in his career by Ishe Smith and lost his last fight to Shawn Porter, who once served as a sparring mate to Manny Pacquiao.

Trout by far. Gomez is a good fighter but not on the same level as Trout. Trout has fought and beaten the better competition. Gomez has beaten some pretty good fighters but they were all at the tale end of their respective careers. Gatti would have knocked Gomez out in less than 5 rounds if they fought while Gatti was in his prime.

Trout fought the next "Big" thing in boxing, Alvarez and almost beat him. It's going to take Trout a lot longer to get back to the top just because of the fact that he just doesn't have the backing or the popularity that he truly deserves. Austin's overall boxing ability is much, much better than Gomez.

Gomez is a tough kid that gets hit way too much. Alfonso has little or no head movement at all and in the last couple of years his body is not taking punishment the way he use to. The tissue around Alfonso's eyes breaks down after a couple of rounds because of the wars that he has been in, very similar to the way Cotto's skin breaks down when he gets hit. The kid is tough, but in all honesty Gomez has maybe one or two more fights left then he should retire,

Between Trout or Gomez, Trout has the much better chance of retaining a title again, Alfonso's Championship days a far behind him.

Austin Trout.

Yes, Saul Alvarez beat both of them. But Austin Trout lost by a competitive unanimous decision, and he put up a great fight. Alfonso Gomez, on the other hand, lost by technical knockout in the sixth round.

Austin Trout is one of the elites at 154 pounds. He was undefeated until losing that tough fight to Alvarez. He even shocked the world beating Miguel Cotto. Alfonso Gomez on the other hand, has decent wins over mediocre fighters like Jose Luis Castillo. Austin Trout is only 27 and still is going to be one of the best at 154, while Alfonso Gomez is 32, and needs to get back after losing to Alvarez and Shawn Porter. So Austin Trout is better.

Austin Trout is way better than Gomez.

Trout is an elite fighter, and Gomez has never been and will never be on an elite level.

Gomez has some okay wins, but he never beat anyone Trout wouldn't school.

Trout is on a different level to Gomez. I believe Trout is a world class fighter who had a very close fight with Canelo. Gomez, although very popular, is an average journeyman fighter who has been beaten by other journeymen.

Austin Trout no doubt is way higher than gomez. gomez is a c class fighter and plus he lost to cotto while trout schooled cotto in his backyard! Trout is definitely much better than gomez.

Alfonso Gomez

Gomez is naturally a welter weight not a light middleweight. So trout is better.

Canelo beat both of them, but who do you think was higher ranked over all, Alfonso Gomez also has some credible wins.
