Ghazan,

You hit the nail right on the head when called Hamed a "Showman" that's EXACTLY what he was, he was a mediocre boxer at best. Hamed's sale was his mouth and his walkouts other than that there wasn't much substance there. Marco Antonio schooled Hamed in every single round of their fight. It was indeed embarrassing for Hamed to BEAT in such a lopsided beating. So shocked was Hamed, he retired from boxing, got fat and almost killed a guy while hopped up on Guinness.

Hamed was pure entertainment, comical at that. I enjoyed his trash talking and his entrances, especially the on the flying carpet GENIOUS to say the least he really knew how to sell a fight especially when he picked the opposition and as long as he did that, he was sure successful, but as soon as he actually fought someone that could fight, one could not hide the truth.

As a gimmick Hamed was top notch as a fighter not so good.

I love Prince Naseem Hamed. He's my favorite Non Mexican fighter.

You're right he's most definetly the greatest showman in boxing history. & not only that his boxing ability was really underrated. No one paid any attention to the things he did right only the things he did wrong because A lot of people just didn't like him & they were jealous of the Prince.

Prince naseem brought entertainment & joy to boxing that you don't see today. Crazy how many American fans praise that Black rat Adrien Broner but then criticize Hamed. A guy like Broner doesn't even compare to The Prince

I thought he was a brilliant showman and boxer.

He went a bit overboard on his religion and the showboating was extreme, but he took the lessons of Ali and magnified them. He was an entertainer, and boxing needs that.

He retired when his aura of invincibility was shattered, and he had to, because he had built his whole career on that premise. No one save boxing purists came to see him fight...they came to see him perform, dominate, and win. His last fight against Calvo brought that home to him, as he fought a fine fight, but did not destroy his opponent. For any other boxer, that would have been enough, but people were actually booing Naz....for "just" winning.

So, he wisely retired.

Barrera beat him, but did not knock him out. I think if Naz had had a decent corner, he would have been better prepared, and that he should have had a rematch. A little study of style, and he could have come back and may have won.

Anyway, Naz, although unconventional, was talented and dangerous. Too bad he left just when things got interesting.

Excellent showman but a bit overrated in my opinion. Got outclassed when he fought an elite opponent MAB.

No, he was an irritatingly arrogant priick who didn't have what it takes to fulfill potential in boxing
