Juist like Floyd, Canelo has never hit the canvas in the Professional ranks or the amateurs
The link Ecstasy of Gold posted (which got two thumbs down so far for some stupid a$$ reason)is from the first fight I ever saw of Canelo's actually. All the man did was post a valid example backing up his claim that Canelo had been rocked and badly hurt. I don't know why anyone would try to disagree with that or whatever. Anyway..Good link to the exact fight I was thinking about when I read this question, Ecstasy. Its too bad that "supposedly" grown *** men on a boxing forum get so starstruck or nuthuggerish or wtf ever to neglect pure fact when they have the opportunity to SEE IT. That's to be expected though, as I've come to learn through my time spent here.
Back to the actual fight: I didn't think he'd make it out of the round when I saw it happen. He was pretty badly hurt by a guy not considered to be anything close to a huge puncher. Since then though to Canelo's credit, I have seen improvement, and I've seen him take some licks and soak them up without being hurt. That said, any improvement in technical boxing skill does not mean a solid lick on the chin won't put him on queer street again. I say if Cotto's brother had him hurt, Floyd definitely can. We've seen Floyd rocked too, but that is irrelevant to the question at hand. I just thought I'd throw that out there since obviously these two are about to fight.
And to answer your question short and sweet-like, I am not sure if Canelo's been down, but it's proof positive that he has been rocked. Chins don't change. Only the ability to protect them. I like Canelo, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him in that same kind of trouble down the road sometime. While his defense is improved, he still takes shots. All it takes is one punch to land just right and cause some problems.
He got rocked with a left hook in 2010 when he was 19 years old by Jose Miguel Cotto, Miguel Cotto's older and less talented brother. Obviously Canelo has gotten much better since then. Now he is 23 years old and has faced better opposition.
