Longtime boxing fans?

Muhammad Ali's last fight against Larry Holmes was one of the saddest fights ever. A great man riddled with Parkinsons being man handled like that. Its a weird thing to watch any dominate force finally meet its end usually with a whimper.

Pacquiao will likely go out swinging, lose a decision and retire. Its rare a fighter goes out on top usually money problems keeps them hanging around to long until that inevitable end, Holy field, Tyson, Ali, Jones Jr, Ray Leonard, Joe Louis, Ray Robinson.

I know somebody mentioned being saddened by the retirement of Lewis, which I thought was perfect, he busted up Vitali Klitchko so bad he needed a dozen stitches to repair his face. And don't forget Lewis was training for Kirk Johnson and was out of shape and ill prepared and he still manged to best Vitali who would become one of the most dominant big men in the sports history. Lewis took that fight on 2 weeks notice, won it and retired as he was starting to decline. Great story in my opinion.

Hopefully Pacquiao fights another fight or two gets a shot at Mayweather and if he loses to Mayweather it will likely be a decision loss, maybe a rematch and then retirement. Thats the best out look on Pacquiao. If he beats Mayweather there is certainly a ton of money for the rematch. I dont think he should fight Bradley again, he beat him pillar to post already, he should get the rematch with Marquez and then line up a fight with Mayweather.

All the people who run the US and the world knew Ali would be a huge force in politics and as a public speaker and had the personality to be as big and influential as Martin Luther King Jr and they poisoned him to keep him silent. The most influential and effective thing about Ali was his SPEAKING ability, and that is what he lost right towards the end of his boxing career right before his retired. If he still was able to speak, he would have had an even greater, massive impact on the world, but the people who are in power, you can call them the Illuminatti if you want, made sure that he wouldn't be able to talk again once he retired and stopped making everyone money. If you really think about it, it makes perfect sense. Ali didn't take any more punches to the head than any other boxer who fought as long as he did.?

I followed Lennox lewis career for 8 years but I was depressed when he retired. His last fight was against Vitali klitschko ( which he won ) but seeing him leave the sport was hard too accept. I stopped watching boxing for a year because I thought no one will ever be entertaining as him. However, I was wrong because Manny pacquiao, Andre ward, and Floyd Mayweather caught my attention. I gravitate toward their styles because they are excellent fighters. In Conclusion, keep your eyes open for the next generation because Manny pacquiao can't fight forever. They will always have a fighter that will interested you.

My favourite fighter was Joe Calzaghe. World champion for 11 consecutive years he is the best Super Middleweight we've ever produced IMO, his last fight was against Roy Jones Jr at 175lbs and he beat him and then retired 46(32)-0. He said it would be his last fight and so it came as no surprise when he called time on his career following his UD win in NY but everyone at home knew it was the end of a fantastic reign at the top, a reign which we may not see emulated for quite some time by a British fighter.

It was a bit of both sadness and joy. Joy that he'd extended his unbeaten record having climbed up from the canvas in the first, sadness that never again will I see his brilliance in the ring, no one worked harder than Calzaghe between the ropes, no one had more heart, no one more stamina or speed in his division.

Tito Trinidad. The fella just faced the best fighters available in his time. It's a holiday in Puerto Rico everytime Tito fights. He's very much the same as Pacquaio -all glued to national television and crime drops literally to zero. Both's just as exciting and always seek -n -destroy opponents. Other fighters i grew up watching and certainly liked were Oscar dela Hoya, Eric Morales, and Roy Jones Jr. (but i guess RJJ aint retired yet so he shouldnt be in the mix)

i see you're a big Pac fan. Same here bro. Actually there's no one in my household who's not a Pacfan. Do you see a strong resemblance of Manny in this avatar? its not Manny, it's me. People say we look verry much alike, i kind of disagree. Im more handsome! LOL.

I have followed many boxers career's.

From the era's of Barry McGuigan, Marvin Hagler, Larry Holmes, Tommy Hearns.... To the current crop today...

One thing is for sure... when one fighter's career reaches it's end, another fighter's is born..

For me, Larry Holmes was a class act - He never got the acclaim he deserved in the ring, only when his fighting days long over, was he truly commended for his boxing prowess.

I joined the Ricky Hatton roller coaster, a ride that took me to the MGM in Las Vegas, and to the New York New York bar afterwards, drinking beer with my defeated hero....

The Mike Tyson era certainly shook up heavyweight boxing...

What about Gatti /Ward...?

Manny Pac is entertaing, as his his nemesis Moneymay..

Boxing is a life long affair...

Manny Pacquiao is my favorite fighter. It's fun having friends come over and when he fights, it's more exciting than most. Even when he got KOd he put on a great show, one of the best he's ever been in. I've followed the guy for 5+ years and it's safe to say he's my favorite. He's definitely coming towards the end of his career and I just would like to know what it's like to watch your favorite fighters last fight. I'm only 16 and have been a hardcore boxing fan for 3 years now, (Manny got me into it) is it sad watching their last fight? I don't really know but Manny doesn't seem like he would leave with an unsatisfactory performance. Anyways what's it like watching the last one? Sad? Happy?

Who was your last favorite fighter that retired? For good, no Mayweather stuff lol
