Mayweather vs Tommy Hearns at 147 who wins?

Prime vs Prime.

Tommy Hearns would destroy Mayweather. Hearns would knock him out.

I'd wager Tommy would either stop Floyd or win a UD. Tommy had a style in boxing not duplicated by any boxer out there today. Tommy in my opinion, could easily out-match Floyd's handspeed; actually Hearns long reach and amazing handspeed, especially his lightening snapping hard jab would give Floyd fits. Floyd never fought anyone with Hearns credentials.

Hearns was just a very bad style match up for Floyd. Tommy's height, reach, speed and power would just be too much for Floyd. How would Floyd beat him? Even the greatly skilled Mayweather could not outbox Hearns from the outside because he would be too small and not enough reach. Floyd would have to get aggressive and come forward and that's not his game. Leonard only started to become successful against Hearns when he became the aggressor and took the fight to Hearns just like Marvin Hagler did also, and that's really the only way to beat Tommy. Floyd also just doesn't hit hard enough to keep Tommy off him. Hearns would eventually get through Floyd's great defense and stop him within 6.

Thomas Hearns whips up on Floyd Mayweather. Heans was a big puncher and a slick boxer. His chin was not great, however Floyd is not known for being a puncher anyhow. The reason I favor Hearns is quality of opponents. Floyd never fought anyone like Leonard, Hagler or Duran all who would have whipped him. Hearns should win this inside the distance. Hearns comes from a different and much better era.

Tommy destroys Floyd. Hearns is tall and has long reach equipped with one of the most powerful left jabs in history. This would pretty much keep Floyd at bay and set him up for Tommy's bludgeon of a right hand, which had a heavyweight's power. Hearns was also fast and quick and he could match boxing skills with Money, only he was much more powerful. Once Floyd gets tagged, he'd lose his confidence and Tommy would just dominate him and probably knock him out by the 8th round.

Both are sharp, both are fast. Mayweathers defense was better.

Hearns at 147lbs was unbeatable unless you could hurt him and here is the difference.

No 1 could out box Hearns at 147lbs. He was way too tall at 6'1'' & 78'' reach, way too quick. He used his jab to set up punches. Wilfredo Benitez, probably the best boxer to come from Puerto Rico the last 40 years, could not out box him [he was a bit old though]. Prime Leonard [who became the undisputed middleweight champion] could not out-box him.

Mayweather could not hurt Hearns. Mayweather only has 2 legit ko's at 147lbs, both were against small men who were new to welterweight division. The only man to beat Hearns at 147lbs was Leonard who had power to KO the Ring Champion at light heavyweight.

IMO Mayweather was way too small. Oscar was his biggest opponent ever, Oscar was 5'10'' & old yet he lost a split ud. Floyd only has 11 fights at 147lbs & above while Hearns built his career at 147lbs & above.

Hearns also caught you from way outside [used his 78'' reach], you can't shoulder roll this, & Hearns height would allow him to get his punches above Floyds shoulder.

Hearns UD, and if he catches Floyd then ko. Bad style match up for Floyd.

''A great big fighter always beats a great little fighter'' - Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Hearns is just too much MONSTER compared to Floyd. He would snap blistering jabs from 5 feet away while unleashing huge bone-crunching rights and uppercuts, hooks, etc. Floyd's brilliant defense will buy him some time but that's about it. The Hitman possess just too much power, leverage and aggression to make it a fair fight. In reality, the fight would resemble a hungry Tiger ambushing a goat in the jungle. Hearns by total destruction in the 2nd round!

Hearns

If Leonard couldnt outbox tommy at 147 then neither could floyd...the difference being that Sugar ray could hit and that saved him in his fight with hearns..no such attribute for floyd in this match up...i see tommy busting him up and a late round stoppage

Mayweather by UD. Hearns was TKO'd in the 3rd round by a guy named Iran Barkley who has over 15 losses.

Prime vs Prime.

Floyd would win an easy UD
