The Most Talented Boxers You Have Ever Seen?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
Talent is a strange word, because most of these great boxers you see - despite popular belief and myth, were made. Not magically born, only a few were born and they still needed tons of work.

But here we go:

-Muhammad Ali

-Sonny Liston

-Marvin Hagler

-Mike Tyson

-George Foreman

Hard to say, as I haven't ever sat down and put any thought into a "ten most talented list" (I don't even keep a current pound for pound list), but here are ten who stand out to me. In no particular order..

I'm not big into making up lists, so if someone were to ask me this same question on a different day, my list would probably look different. This is just off the top of my head right now.

Roy Jones Jr.- While not the most "skilled", he is by far the most naturally athletic talent I've ever seen.

Willie Pep

Ricardo Lopez

Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Salvador Sanchez

Tommy Hearns

Roberto Duran

Muhammad Ali

Pernell Whitaker

Ray Robinson

Mike Tyson

Muhammad Ali

Sugar Ray Leonard

Sugar Ray Robinson

Mayweather

Dempsey

I have seen old clips of Marvelous Marvin, Rocky Marciano and Jack Johnson that were pretty impressive.

Ali, Robinson, Louis, Armstrong, Pep, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Hagler, Tyson, Whitaker, Jones Jr., De la Hoya, Mayweather.

The ones I have actually seen, not just movies of their fights, would be:

Sugar Ray Robinson

Marvin Hagler

Ali

Ray Leonard

Hearns

Duran

Carlos Zarrate

Salvador Sanchez

Julio Caesar Chavez.

Archie Moore.

Bob Foster

Emile Griffith

Curtis Cokes

George Foreman

Gene Fulmer

Dick Tiger

Liston

Rocky Marciano

Cleveland Williams

That I actually watched...in no particular order

Marvelous Marvin Hagler

Lennox Lewis

Pernell Whitaker

Arturo Gatti

Sugar Ray Leonard

Julio Cesar Chavez

Mike Tyson

Larry Holmes

Johnny Tapia

Thomas Hearns

Talent as in god given talent..not skilled like Floyd, just natural talent.

- Wilfredo Benitez

- Hector M Camacho

- Mike Tyson

- Sugar Ray Robinson

- Sugar Ray Leonard

- Roy Jones JR

i'm going with fighters i've seen in my time not guys i've seen tape of.

not in any order

sugar ray leonard ...could do everything

roberto duran ........ underrated defence great head movement as well as his attacking prowess

floyd mayweather .. well we all know why

roy jones .............. amazing reflex's

julio cesar chavez... not a slick boxer but a relentless pressure fighter.

pernell whitaker...... as smooth as silk,i never really liked his style at the time but he something special

tommy hearns .......if he had haglers chin and engine he would be up there with sugar ray robinson

shane mosley@135.lightning fast

bernard hopkins .... not that exciting but a master at what he does

terry norris............ i loved this guy he was fast he punched very hard and loved to shoot out

Roy Jones Jr in his primes was a beast

I hate to say it but Floyd is probably the most skilled. Even though he lacks being humble nd is a bad role model. His fights may be boring but it works nd he remains undefeated

Name your top ten. Here are mine in no order:

Sugar Ray Robinson

Roberto Duran

Muhammad Ali

Jack Johnson

Floyd Mayweather Jr

Roy Jones Jr

Charles Burley

Tommy Hearns

Jack Dempsey

Sam Langford
