Top 10 greatest boxers off all time?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
(1) Muhammad Ali by a mile.

(2) Sugar Ray Robinson. Changed my mind about him because of the hundreds of fights he had.

(3) Joe Louis.

(4) Rocky Marciano.

(5) Henry Armstrong.

(6) Joe Frazier.

(7) Larry Holmes.

(8) Bob Foster.

(9) Jim Wilde.

(10) Alan Minter.

It depends on what your definition of "Boxing greatness" is but realistically Ali is about the only one on your list I would consider good enough to be considered in a historically accurate top ten all time greatest boxer category, Foreman and Holmes are all time great heavyweights, but not elite enough to warrant such high praise and in truth only one other heavyweight would even come close to making the list. That heavyweight would be Joe Louis. I would dishonor great heavyweights of the past if Tyson's name were to be mentioned in the same sentence, Mike was at best mediocre, and nowhere near a great fighter.

The other eight would be lighter weight fighters like Sugar Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Willie Pep, Roberto Duran, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., Aaron Pryor, Ricardo Lopez and Khasio Galaxy. Obviously there are dozens of historical greats who deserve consideration, and even a couple of modern fighters who have an argument for mention, but in the end it is an opinion as to who the top ten all time greatest are, usually it's more accurate to list top ten greats by weight class since size does play a role in boxing.

Whatever happened to Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis, Floyd Mayweather and at least a half dozen others that are better that half you list? As far as Tyson, the second half of his career would keep him off the list of top 10 of all time. As for Butterbean, are you kidding me????

Tyson Fury or David Haye shouldn't be on that list.

1. Muhammad Ali

2. Sugar Ray Leonard

3. Mike Tyson

4. Floyd Mayweather

4. Tommy Hearns

5. Manny Pacqiao

6. George Foreman

7. Roberto Duran

8. Oscar De LaHoya

9. Roy Jones Jr

10. Sugar Ray Robinson

Only one person in your list deserves to be in there. Muhammad Ali

My list:

1.Sugar Ray Robinson

2. Henry Armstrong

3. Willie Pep

4. Muhammad Ali

5. Joe Louis

6. Jack Johnson

7. Jack Dempsey

8. Sam Langford

9. Joe Gans

10. Roberto Duran

Learn bout boxing son.

Your list is sh*t my list is better:

1: Samson Dutch Boy Gym

2: Sugar Nikolai Valuev

3: Peter Mcneeley

4: Edwin Valero

5: Sven Ottke

6: Vasyl Lomachenko

7: Ali Raymi

8: Eric Crumble

9: Reggie Strickland

10: Derek Chisora

Your list has a few flaws.

Firstly, Mike Tyson should NOT be that high. Butterbean, David Haye and Tyson Fury should NOT be on the list either.

I'd have Ali well out in front as the best. Then Marciano, Louis, Lennox Lewis, Robinson, de la Hoya, Fenech, Joe Louis, Dur5and, Famechon

In no particular order:

Floyd mayweather jr

rocky marciano

muhammad ali

saul alvarez

mike tyson

sugar ray leonard

sugar ray robinson

roberto duran

manny pacquaio

Lennox lewis

how about try #1 Rocky Marciano and there is no way you can put tyson on the list let alone ahead of Holyfield man youre list is beyond reaching loool Evander beat douglas and tyson how is tyson fury david hate loool tim bradley buterbean? are you serious looool how are they on your top ten and who did tyson beat him and ali are so overrated its ridiculous cley did alot for black people as a public figure but as far as boxing goes hes another guy who fought bums he could even call the rounds because he could beat the guy at any time loool Marciano fought in the golden age of boxing during a tough era of fighters and went undefeated with a 90 plus percent ko ratio as a small hw loool and hes not on your list hahahahahaha

1.Muhammed Ali

2.Mike Tyson

3.Lennox Lewis

4.Larry Holmes

5.George Foreman

6.Evander Holyfeild

7.Eric 'butterbean' Esch

8.Tyson Fury

9.David Haye

10.Timothy Bradley

What do you guys think?

I'm tired of these lists. It's objective.

But david haye, tyson fury???????

Sugar ray robinson is number 1

How do you put Butterbean on the list and leave off Mayweather?

9 heavyweights, 8 of which have fought in the last 10 years, and 1 welterweight lol

Not bad, I dont think I'd have Tyson and Lewis so high up, you need to squeeze Henry Cooper in there too so maybe I'd take out Haye.

replace geroge foreman for sugar ray robinson

Evander and lewis should be higher than tyson because they beat him.

Rocky Marciano is too good to be on that list or what?

Patricks list is kind of spot on to me!!

No Joe Louis???

i'd probably replace butterbean with audley harrison.
