Welterweight Bout: Roberto Duran vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
Duran would knockout Floyd, comparing Leonard with Mayweather is like comparing apples to oranges. Floyd lacks the character to be on the same level as those guys from the 80's. Floyd would barely crack the top ten. Floyd has shown his weakness in flying off the handle when it comes to a stressful situation, and being in the ring with Duran would be pure stress.

Duran would be in Floyd's head from the moment there was even a hint of the fight being made. Floyd would crack he lacks the integrity to control himself and in his own words "I just lose it Man." Floyd was at a nightclub in Detroit, Michigan would someone called him "An ugly Mouthfcuker!" Floyd grabbed that person by the collar of their shirt and began to beat and kick that person. He also pulled out patches of that persons hair and finally knockout three of that persons teeth. Floyd was in Vegas at another nightclub when someone called Floyd "A loser" Floyd beat that person black and blue. Floyd aslo knocked out three of that persons teeth. Floyd was at his house in Las Vegas when he beat, kicked and stomped a person for saying "He was out of control."

Imagine if you will Duran talking about Floyd's Mother, his foul mouthed Grandmother (As seen on HBO's 24/7) and his children. How do you think that Floyd would react? do you think that it would get into his weak mind just a little bit? Weak? You ask. Sure WEAK, all of those people that I mentioned Floyd assaulting above were WOMAN. Condone That. It takes a weak man of lower class and character with no integrity to beat woman. He was convicted 3x's for this despicable crime. All of this is a matter of public record.

So like a true coward when Duran gets into Floyd's head, Floyd crumbles.

Boxing,

Leonard-Duran 1 happened Duran went in with a record of 72 wins 1 loss, he was beat goods and he still won. All of those ''big fights'' happened when he was old, and they were only big because most were American champions.

And even with guys like Camacho, who knocked out Leonard, Duran did pretty good at beating him.

Duran is considered the best p4p fighter in the last 30 years by ESPN, the International Boxing Research Organization and The Ring.

With that said; he was awesome at lightweight unbeatable maybe] but at welterweight he didn't do much aside from Leonard. Floyd could get a decision.

Here is Roger Mayweather saying that he thinks his nephew could whop Leonard but he's not so sure if Floyd could win against PRIME Duran;

Yes the Duran that fought Ray the first time beats Floyd . Duran would not have stopped coming in he would have walked Floyd down and knocked him out.I have all the respect in the world for Floyd but I know the kind of fighter the Great Roberto Duran was he was a monster. Floyd would have been forced to back up against the ropes the shoulder roll Floyd uses on these guys would have never worked against a pro like Duran he would have just simply beat Floyds arms, and body until he was able to slip in a couple of shots to the head. Ray Leonard said he had never been hit like that before, Richard Steel said he had never heard punches land on a persons body they way Duran's did that is saying a lot my friends. There is not one reason for me to believe that Floyd would be able to beat Duran. Roberto Duran is a icon name one fighter Floyd has beat that will be an icon?

I just don't know about Mayweather any longer. I now think he would give Duran hell. Remember, Benitez boxed Duran's ears off, and had Leonard boxed him in their first fight, he would have won. In fact, some to this day think Leonard deserved that decision. Mayweather by decision over even a peak Duran!

Duran at his best was superior to Floyd in every respect, odds are Floyd wouldn't survived to see the final bell. Duran by KO inside 10 rounds.

I am going opposite of the Asker and the majority of the Answerers. Duran was a beast and a legend, but to assert that Duran would win because he beat Ray is wrong. Leonard beat himself with the wrong game plan. He planned to brawl with the ultimate brawler. That was his undoing. Floyd would never fight that fight with Duran. The fight that Floyd would fight would be one of boxing, moving, countering and being elusive. That's what Ray did in the 2nf fight and won.

If Leonard frustrated Duran enough to make him quit...he would really quit vs Floyd. He would be embarrassed about all his missing and Floyd's countering. Floyd would be very satisfied with his safe unanimous decision win. Easy money...

At 147 I think PBF could win by dec. It wont be easy. You cant compare SRL to PBF, they were totally different fighters, SRL is swift on his feet punches in combination and has more power. PBF is more fleet footed, and uses his defense to make you miss and counter kind of like a Benitez but alot smarter and is able to adapt during the fight, thats the key. PBF is able to adapt, thats why I think he would probably find a way to pull out a dec win over Duran at 147, but at lightweight Duran would of beat him and probably by KO.

@Ray. ( Roger said that duran will be a tough fight. He did not say who will win.)

Roberto duran was a good fighter but he is not an icon. He lost everytime he stepped up.

Duran beat Leonard by UD. ( the 1st. fight. )

Leonard beat Duran by tko. ( the 2nd. fight. )

Tommy hearns beat Duran by Tko.

Marvin hagler beat Duran by UD.

Hector comacho beat Duran by UD.

Hector comacho beat Duran by UD ( 1st. fight and 2nd. fight )

Wilfred benitez beat Duran by UD.

He lost all of his big fights except one (:')

Icons:

Miguel cotto

Juan marquez

Genaro hernandez

Diego corrales r.i.p.

Artirro gatti r.i.p

Oscar dela hoya ( beat JCC sr. two times). :))

Shane mosley.

Floyd mayweather will not stand infront of duran. He would counter punch duran with sharp and fluid combinations. Floyd mayweather will win by UD. Duran quit against Leonard ( the 2nd. fight. ) because he was frusturated. Floyd will do the same thing.

A great fighter does not lose his biggest fights. (:') (:')!!

Let's just face it. No matter how many times i have wished to see his winning streak break, Floyd Mayweather Jr is just unbeatable.

duran was a beast, what he did to leonard wil b enuf for floyd to immediately announce his brief retirement if ever he competed in that era

Both in their prime. After watching the 30/30 "No Mas" and seeing how Duran went after Leonard for 15 rounds, he would be the kind of fighter that would give Mayweather problems! Your thoughts..
