When Rocky Marciano fought Joe Louis and knocked him out in 8 rounds, Louis was no way at his best, was around 36 years old, and was at the last fight of his career. Marciano was so saddened after knocking out his hero.
Obviously, if Joe Louis was in his prime, the fight wouldn't have been so one-sided for Marciano, or even for Louis in my opinion. This would be one for the ages. Marciano would definitely give Louis all that he has, and will show much heart and determination. This will be a toe-to-toe battle with both men going down in the later rounds, but both having the courage to get back up and slug it out.
I see some rounds being for Louis, controlling the pace with his jab, and some rounds for Marciano, cutting of the ring, and landing his Suzie Q. I think in the last and final round, Louis drops Marciano. Since Archie Moore was able to do it, Louis would surely do it with his tremendous punching power. But, Marciano shows his great heart and confidence to get back up and land a huge Suzie Q to the chin of Louis! He gets back up as well, and both men continue to land shot after shot. Round 15 would be the round of the year.
Honestly very close to call, but I see Joe Louis getting a very close split decision. I could also see Rocky Marciano winning a split decision, or maybe even a draw.
Rocky would give anyone 210lbs and under problem. He can punch hard, he has a granite chin and he was fearless. That fearless part is a problem for anyone. Of course a prime Joe Louis would throw powerful combinations at Rocky and turn his face into a bloody mess but in the end Rocky might hit Joe with the "suzy Q" and stop Joe. If Max Schmeling right can hurt Joe so can Rocky who can punch even harder. Even if Rocky win this one, he won't look good in the mirror after the fight because he will eat a lot of leather from Joe.
Big Hench is an old Do_ch Bag. The fight would have been amazing. Marciano would have the power advantage, he would also have the better chin, and would be a bit tougher then Louis. Joe Louis would have the speed advantage, better combos, better defense. Both had great stamina and great athleticism.
I say 10 round stoppage Rocky wins.

Marciano never beat a prime great. Louis is, in my opinion the 2nd greatest Heavyweight ever. Marciano beat a Louis who came out of retirement and Louis had his moments in that fight. I have no doubt that Louis would have destroyed Marciano in his prime. Power, reach, skill...
He'd be in a brawl, but prime Louis would destroy Rock easily. Yes, I mean, easily. Louis was just too fast, too quick, too skilled and too smart for Marciano. Joe had very quick hands and he threw his punches correctly, that is short and crisp, and in bunches. He also had quick feet and great footwork. Rock had a big punch, a big heart and a great stamina, but all these, Joe also had. Plus, Joe was bigger.
