My personal ATG favorite Puerto Rican fighters list reads like this:

1. Hector Camacho Sr.

2. Wilfredo Gomez

3. Miguel Cotto

4. Edwin Rosario

5. Wilfred Benitez

6. Carlos Ortiz

7. Felix "Tito" Trinadad

8. Jose Torres

9. Wilfredo Vasquez

10. Estaban DeJesus (only because he was the first to beat Duran)

Honorable mention is Sixto Escobar, the great old school bantam weight.

Wilfred Benitez

Wilfredo Gomez

Hector Camacho

Tito Trinidad

Miguel Cotto

Cotto isn't the best from Puerto Rici but he's a dedicated fighter. He's fought every opponent that has stepped up to him and he's consistant.

1. Carlos Ortiz/Sixto Escobar

2. Tito Trinidad

3. Hector Macho Camacho

4. Wilfredo Gomez/Wilfred Benitez

5. Miguel Cotto

Honorable Mentions: Edwin Rosario Alfredo Escalera Esteban de Jesus Sammy Serrano and Ivan Calderon

1. Wilfredo Gomez-greatest at 122 pounds he was closest to unbeatable at this weight.

2 Carlos Ortiz-lots of stamina durability and longevity.

3 Felix Trinidad-great all around.

4 Hector Camacho Sr-possibly the best lateral movement ever.

5. Edwin Rosario-odd way of fighting but crudely effective.

6. Wilfred Benitez-2 weight division champ decent boxer.

7. Miguel Cotto-future hall of famer incredible.

Juan Manuel López

Felix Trinidad

Cotto Benitez

Alex De Jesus

Carlos Ortiz

1, Wilfredo Gomez: I'd be surprised if Gomez doesn't appear in everyone's top 5. He stands well above the rest of the pack. At his best, he was the closest thing to the perfect fighter. I picked him to lose to Sanchez but I also know part of the reason he lost. By that point in his career, Gomez chased the ladies a bit more than he did when he was a bit younger. I met him a few times and one of his girlfriends actually worked for me.

.

2. Hector Camacho: Surprise. Sure he squandered much of his career. However, there are two things to look at. In The Ring, there wasn't much you could do to him when he was at his best. He's another who chased the ladies but the second thing to look at is what he was able to salvage once he matured and decided to take the sport a bit more seriously. Nobody matched his speed and lateral movement combination. Outside the ring, he barely makes the Top 10. Inside, he's hard to match when he's in shape.

.

3. Felix Trinidad: He's so One Dimensional and would have lost miserably to lateral speed demons like Leonard and others. His "win" over De la Hoya, gift that it was, was proof that --if an man of Ordinary speed and mobility, Like De la Hoya can make Tito look silly, what would better boxers do to him. . . Even though he was past his best when he lost to Roy Jones Jr., Winky Wright and Bernard Hopkins badly exposed him.

.

4. Carlos Ortiz: He should probably be a bit higher, as he was a better technical boxer than Trinidad. However, Tito's wins were more significant and he scored a string of them. .... Carlos ruled the lightweights in the 60s, almost as thoroughly as Duran did in the 70s, until he ran afoul against the man Duran would eventually defeat, Ken Buchanan.

.

5. Wilfred Benitez: Who knows how much more Benitez could have done with his career, had he taken boxing more seriously. It was later revealed that Benitez battled mental illness for much of his life. . . But the one thing he did know, and know well, was defensive boxing. Wilfred is often given tons of credit for his defense but he had a sound offensive as well. ... With names like Palomino, Leonard, Duran and Hearns on his record, it's hard to exclude him, even if he went 2-2 with this group.

.

Honorable Mention:

.

6. Mighel Cotto: I could think of a few fighters who probably belong here instead of Cotto. I usually give more credit for "In The Ring" ability. .. He would have been exposed against fellow Puerto Rican star Benitez and Tito would surely have poll-axed him...However, I can't discount Cotto's history making victory over Martinez, even if Sergio was visibly impaired.

Michael Spinx....Boom Boom Mancijni...Sugar Ray Leonard....Chuck Wepner and Marvin Hagler were the best Peurto Rican Boxers

Cotto

Trinidad

Gomez

Benitez

Camacho

Felix Trinidad just for in the Hall Of Fame. Cotto just made history for being the first Puerto Rican to win titles in 4 weight classes. Benitez is still the youngest world champion. Who are your 5?
