Cotto vs Martinez will be fought at the full 160 limit. Is there a more courageous prize fighter than Cotto?

He does have a great resume but guys with great resumes like that tend to have many losses.

The other week i compared Oscar de la Hoyas resume with Fritzie Civic, Both have awesome competition but they also lost most of their biggest fights for the same reason.

Miguel Cotto isn't the best at 147lbs, he isn't the best at 154lbs and now he will fight the best at 160lbs [or at least the most prestigious].

For comparison; Oscar de la Hoya was not the best at 147lbs after Trinidad, he was not the best at 154lbs after steroids Mosley and then he went up to 154lbs to fight BHops

That's what Puerto Rican are, always going for great real fight. The then undefeated Tito Trinidad was eyeing at pound for pound king Roy Jones then until he was kayoed by Bhop who outweight him by atleast 15 poundsc come fight night

Cotto vs Martinez will be fought at the full 160 limit. Is there a more courageous prize fighter than Cotto?

to be honest, i see this fight only one way, Cotto getting stopped by Martinez. Cottos's added weight will only make him slower and easier to hit. While Sergio who's comptable at the weight will just punch Cotto at will. If MArgo (with or without the plaster) enabled to KO the undefeated Cotto, Sergio who punches just as hard might just do the same

I love this fight. I've always been a big Cotto fan. We'll see how Martinez looks against him. I haven't been impressed with him lately. If Martinez beats the dog **** out of Cotto, we need to see GGG fight a top middleweight and then step up to the plate, pronto. Martinez is long in the tooth as it is. I think he's going on 39. A win vs him wont mean as much a couple few years down the road if Sergio is even still there for that long.

That said, I'll never count Cotto out. That doesn't mean i'll necessarily bet on him, depending on the circumstances, but I'll never count him out of a fight. He's always a live dog.

He's looked good at 154 considering, Who knows? He might do alright at middle at this point in his career, seeing as how he wont have to cut weight, and Sergio has looked hittable as of late.

Cotto's decision to take on Martinez might be admirable but it might also be foolish. My understanding is that Cotto had a choice to fight Martinez or to fight Canelo Alvarez. The Alvarez fight would have been a lesser risk for much more money.

.

Martinez is a worthy champion and he has proven himself to be the true champion at 160. However, Cotto is not much of a threat to him at all. Unless his surgery has taken more out of him than we know, he should beat Cotto rather easily.

Martinez holds the edge in speed. While Cotto can match his strength, Martinez also holds the edge in Use of Power. There is a difference. Boxing ability might be closer to equal but the drastic edge in speed, that Martinez holds, renders Cotto's chances to just above useful. What this spells is Martinez by KO in 8.

By comparison, Cotto might actually have a slight edge in strength over Alvarez. He at least equals him in power. However, his use of power is questionable. Having it and Using it are not always the same. Again, there is the difference in speed. Alvarez is no speed demon but Cotto is dreadfully slow.

.

I think Cotto loses either fight. But by a business standpoint, the Alvarez fight is the much better decision to make. I realize he wants to make history by becoming the first Puerto Rican fighter to win four titles. But he will fall short on this one. Martinez will stop him.

He is pretty courageous yea and dumb too. But courage is usually overshadowed by someone who has more skill.

He should have waited a while in between losses to recover.

Xylocaine does not make your punches harder and it's just something FLIPS hold on to so they can bash Mayweather,

lol, if mayweather didn't use that, some big fights would be cancelled.

the man is fighting with broken hands, not loaded gloves or steroids, you moron.

Floyd was not in his prime and yes Cotto is legend.

I have so much more respect for him than I do for floyd and manny.

thats why I always like him, never scared goin to war, hope he wins

He's fought prime (and probably roided up to the gills) Manny, prime (xylocaine hands) Floyd, concrete hands Margarito and then non-concrete Margo, and now the lineal 160 champ Martinez at his first fight at middleweight.

He's going for glory and history. Miguel Cotto is straight up legend.
