Could these opponents be Floyd Mayweather's biggest threat?

Posted at: 2015-04-20
5.Adrien Broner

4.Amir Khan (if he'd work on his chin)

3.Sergio Martinez

2.Andre Ward (at a catchweight)

1.Saul "Canelo" Alvarez

5. Broner - No, he does nothing better than Floyd except punch. Floyd is faster, more technical, smarter, just overall a more skilled fighter. Broner is just Floyd Lite, he's not the original.

4. Khan - You can't work your chin, Either you have a good chin, or you don't. Khan has a bad and pathetic chin, and there's nothing he can do about it. Floyd would stop him most defiitely, it''d be easy work IMO.

3. Martinez - Before his last fight I might say yes, b/c he's a big southpaw with a good jab, power, speed, etc...but he's too old now, his reflexes seem to be declining just slightly, and he's flawed in the way he fights.

It's too athletic of a style for an old man, and he keeps his hands down too much. Floyd would pop shot the sh*t out of Martinez at this point.

2. SOG - Yeah, Ward is a lot bigger than Floyd and he's a freak talent. The fight itself is not really realistic at all though, b/c it'd have to be at 160lb, where Floyd would have to put on a significant amount of weight and Ward would have to lose a significant amount of weight.

Definitely not a real fight since it would never happen. If they were the same size, I think Floyd beats Ward simply b/c despite both being off the charts in terms of technique, defense, smarts, etc..

Floyd is a bit better in all those areas, plus he is a lot more athletic than SOG is. Ward isn't exactly a very fast or athletic guy, he's just all around a great fighter and too smart/technical for anyone around his weight to f*ck w/ him (think B-Hop).

1. Canelo - Floyd owns Alvarez, it's not even close IMO. It's hilarious people act like Canelo poses issues for Floyd and will be ducked or whatever other BS they say. Canelo BARELY beat Austin Trout. He gets gassed, didn't work a whole lot, has bad defense, his durability is still a question IMO.

Floyd would box his ears off, possibly stop him. You can't afford to get tired and expect Floyd not to punish you for it. Canelo is still young and has beat one real/elite fighter in Trout, the fact that it's assumed he gives Floyd a fight b/c of that is hilarious to me.

He isn't nearly ready for Mayweather, it's almost a mismatch in my mind. I'd like to see it still, it's the biggest fight you can make besides one w/ Pacquiao, which has lost a lot of it's luster at this point anyway.

Adrien Broner: Nah this wont happen. Aside from these guys being thick as thieves, Broner really is too small.

Amir Khan: I could see this fight happening, but Floyd would take it cause its an easy check. The way Khan is struggling with mid tier fighters he isnt ready to fight someone who can really box, and he cannot.

Sergio Martinez: No, aside from Sergio being too big (Mayweather would likely mandate he come ALL the way down if he wants to fight no catch weight) Sergio is a poser. He hasnt fought a real boxer.

Andre Ward: Its a nice dream but Ward is way too big.

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez: Again I see it happening realistically, but Alvarez is not a threat. I disagree with Stick and Move that he fought an "elite" fighter in Trout, Trout is barely a somebody. Also if Alvarez was the next coming he should have been able to KNOCK OUT AND END Shane. He couldnt. Alvarez is good if you are standing still to let him hit you, Floyd wouldnt be and he would likely expose him for having horrible feet. Its not a threat, its once again elevating someone in the hope he can be a threat.

First of all there are 3 people on your list that don't make sense.

1. Adrien Broner is like Floyd's little brother, they said already that they will never fight.

2. Sergio Martinez is completely done.

3. Andre Ward is almost 20 pounds heavier than Floyd.

Amir Khan and Saul Alvarez are the only viable threats and as of this moment neither has the skill set to compete with Mayweather.

I think in a few years though Alvarez will give Floyd a test.

I don't see Adrian Broner as threat because Mayweather won't fight his mini-me and Adrian is too inexperienced. He has yet to fight anyone of note. His first test is Malignaggi and that's sad.

Amir Khan is garbage, period.

Sergio Martinez is a threat simply because he's fight at Middleweight right now

Andre Ward should not even be mentioned. He is a Super Middleweight.

Saul Alvarez isn't much of a threat but he is a lot bigger than Floyd. That would make for an interesting fight.

only sergio martinez and canelo is the threat here...

Adrien broner chin is questionable

Amir khan chin also is so weak

andre ward is too big unfair, i dont even want to watch the fight

who will make Floyd the most money? There is a lot of hype for Canelo in USA......but I don't think any casual boxing fans know who Amir Khan is. Floyd vs Andre at middleweight?

Canelo is the only Legit threat out of the five. Khan would be interesting as he could match Floyd in speed and maybe footwork, for a while...

S.O.G. is simply too big, so is Sergio and I'm not even going to mention that fighter who up to now is mostly just about talk and has yet to prove himself in the right.

Amir Khan and Alvarez are the two stand out threats.. You could also throw Pacquiaio into the mix too...

4.) How can Khan work on his chin??? Neck exercises do not work! 1. and 3 are the biggest threat to beat Floyd

Canelo Alvarez is a threat, but floyd will duck him...

please give Mayweather a serious fight, oh yea they can't because he will duck it and wimp out.

5.Adrien Broner

4.Amir Khan (if he'd work on his chin)

3.Sergio Martinez

2.Andre Ward (at a catchweight)

1.Saul "Canelo" Alvarez

Floyd should fight JOsie HArris again! right dawg?

floyd doesnt fight anybody good..

Who cares about boxing.

UFC is way better.
