Why is boxing a dead sport now?

Boxing is never going to be a dead sport and as of now is in the top 3 most popular sports on earth!

Lol i laugh when i hear people say this. Tell me why Floyd Mayweather is the highest paid athlete in the world right now and not Anderson Silva? Tell me why top boxers make an average of at least $2 million and UFC fighters are lucky to make even $1 million? Fighters like Mayweather, make an average of $40 million.... You know how much PPV buys boxing has? Go look these up and then tell me boxing is dead...

Boxing is very much alive, it's just not as promoted as MMA, and as long as boxing keeps generating that kind of money, it doesn't need to be.

Boxing will never be a dead sport because it has so much history behind it and has it's loyal followers. I have trained in both martial arts and boxing... from a neutral perspective, I prefer watching boxing to mma as it can get quite frustrating when you see 2 guys rolling around on the floor together as if they are having sex. Of course certain mma fighters like anderson silva or Lyota machida are entertaining to watch, but I still prefer boxing

Boxing is only dead in the minds of children and hillbillys that watch wrestling and the UFC.

More money, more history, more action. The UFC doesn't even feel a sport, and in the minds of the public most wouldn't consider it a sport.

If I wanted to watch gay p0rn then I would watch it on the internet but I don't, and I wouldn't try to disguise it as fighting on the TV.

On the contrary, pro and even amateur boxing never have it so good. The highest paid pro athlete is a boxer. Big time promoters are scrambling to raise the profile and eventually propagate Western-style pro boxing in China.which has been previously noted for its jealous pride in its own martial arts Even Cuba and other countries supporting only amateur boxing are now even participating in a semi-pro boxing tournament that will be launched soon. We have great pro boxing bouts every month. More top boxers are coming up, ready to replace the old, aging stars and superstars in almost every weight divisions. How dead is that?

People say boxing isn't as promoted as UFC. Well Dugh!!! You don't have to heavily promote something you know is going to sell. And boxing isn't going anywhere. As a matter of fact- MMA might not last with all the eye-gouging from the fingerless gloves and the fifteen minutes of gay porn on the floor. Real men fight standing up - it's over once you hit the floor!

One Floyd Mayweather fight generates more money than a year's worth of all MMA matches combined, boxing is fine and MMA will never come close to rivaling boxing either financially or with public popularity.

Many reasons but in my opinion boys these days aren't as tough as they used to be they're kinda wimps they're too concerned about their reputation and wont box cause they are embarrassed to be beaten.

Even the UFC president Dana white said that boxing is dead because Mayweather won't fight pacquiao...he said, if those two boxers fight MMA would be hurt...in an interview on youtube

It's only dead to mma fans.

I blame Mike Tyson

Not enough marketing and promotion on Television Networks. You have to pay $50 or more to see a Championship Fight.

MMA killed it
