Did Muhammad Ali trip on Chuck Wepner's foot when he got knocked down?

There is a still photo that clearly shows that Wepner indeed had his left foot on Ali's right foot when he hit him with the body punch and when Ali stepped back he fell over because his foot was caught under Wepner's foot. I remember Ali saying then that, that was one of the oldest moves in boxing.

Ali said wepner knocked him down funny thing is chuck wepner said ali tripped over his foot usually it would be the other way around ali would say he tripped

Ali was rarely knocked down in his career and in those few instances, he took it flush to the jaw from ponderous punchers as Henry Cooper and Joe Frazier. Wepner was never known for his punching prowess and I don't think he ever landed a solid blow on Ali during that fight. I think their feet got entangled during that action that's why Ali lost his balanc and fell.

Wepner was dirty af the whole fight and the ref was on his side. Anyways, yeah, Ali foot got entangled with his which led to Ali falling and getting angry to the point he knocked this bum out.

I am not sure. It was a good solid punch to the lung, but you cannot really see their feet in any of the footage.

It looked like a legitimate knockdown to me, but it is hard to know.

What is easy to know is that referee was absolutely terrible.

He allowed Wepner to hit Ali on the back of the head while clinching throughout the fight, hit him in the back, etc.

Wepner was very dirty, and Ali kept his part clean.

The ref should have been barred from boxing after this fight, and Wepner should have been barred for several fights.

When I watch the Replay of Ali being knocked down I can't see their feet but from the way he falls it looks like his foot was under Wepner's. Also, it seems quite hard to be knocked down from a body shot. Ali says Wepner stepped on his foot and that's why he fell and Wepner says that their feet didn't even touch
