Do you think boxing is right for someone like me?

This is a very serious decision. Do you just want to train and mess around or do you want to compete? If you choose the later then you must train 4-5 days a week with fire consistency and intensity. You must not miss a day. You must be disciplined and in the right mindset mentally. It is much work to become a boxer. You must be in bed when everyone else is out partying and having a good time. You should refrain from alcohol smoking and street drugs. They will surely affect your performance. Try the amateurs and have a few fights. Sparring separates the men from the child. This is the acid test if you cannot get by this part there is no chance of you even competing. If you just want to train and learn basics need not to follow this plan. I hope you make the right choice for you and wish you well.

It's good that you're thinking twice on picking up boxing. I was in the same boat as you, before I started boxing. The first thing that came to my mind was actually Mike Tyson and that made me think twice before starting boxing. But, Manny Pacquiao inspired me a lot because he overcame every obstacles in his life. Now, I enjoy boxing more than ever and I no longer feel scared about it because of many inspirations from great boxing legends such as Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali.

Find a good martial arts class. Everyone takes them -- it's not restricted to personality types! And, yes, the fighting is fun. But, in a martial arts class, you won't get hurt.

Stay in school and avoiding boxing IMO. A good class on MMA for self defense and the discipline and history of that cultured sport would be better

Boxing is just about right to everyone who's physically and mentally fit.

I'm sort of like you, but I love boxing. You need to try it before anything to be really honest.

I think you can ask some professinal person to get the instruction. and in my own understanding, I think it is ok for you to have a try. And, you should remember that safety is the most important issue.

Anyone can train. But not everyone can be a boxer who actually competes.

The only way to know is to give it a try.

many elite boxers are quiet, calm, gentle people outside the ring, they do not act tough.

I'm a very polite and nerdy type of person. I'm also one of the smartest students in my class. Still, people like Mike Tyson make me think twice about doing boxing. But I also feel that fighting could be the right thing for me...

Depends upon your personal interest either you wanna be or not to be!

why not? boxing is not all about brutal and violence its an art that only few smart people can understand....

No

if you want to fight then do it.
