Floyd vs Ali ....if boths guys were the same size who would win?

Ali would have beat him at any weight...His accuracy and speed would be too much for someone like Floyd...Just compare their contemporaries...Ali fought and beat the absolute best and strongest of his division...whereas Floyd couldn't dominate DLH, who was way past his prime and came out with a split decision.

How in the world could he step into the ring against the fastest boxer there ever lived

Ali, at any weight UD.

?JRSB - what rubbish. Muhammad Ali is the supreme athlete and the Greatest boxer ever to walk planet earth. Mayweather fights about once every two years - I would not know Mayweather if he sat next to me - and I am a big boxing fan and former boxer.

Ali was and to a large extent is the most famous and recognisable face on earth.

Probably Ali. Hes got those long reaching arms and could probably hold Mayweather off, But hed get frustrated trying to hit Floyd.

Ali would dominate Floyd and knock him out in round 7.

That would be a fight to watch, could go either way, just like Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao, but that won't materialize because Floyd will not commit to a fight that he fears loosing, Ali would give him a fight that he could loose and so can Manny so will fight someone he knows he can beat and he will keep his undefeated title. He will not fight Pacquiao because he is scared to loose his status, and once he looses he will go away and throw his money away,

Listen Floyd has no weaknesses and his defense is the greatest ever.Ali would struggle because with his low guard Floyd would crack him with those Fast right hands and great left hooks

In the end Ali had weaknesses which means he can be beat.Mayweather has no weaknesses so how do you beat a man god made unbeatable

this is a fair question.were talkin the best fighter of the past 20 years vs another all time great.

(not including RJJ)

i actually think the only man that rivals him in terms of who's best over the past 20 is pacquiao.i know pacquiao was beat and that's because he met his match.mayweather has never met an elite great with the style that trumps his.mayweather like any fighter can have his style bested by another.this style of course would have to have a whole load of athletic abillity thrown in with it.athletic abillity that,in the worst case, couldn't be to far off mayweathers.

mayweather's style is as close to flawless as a human being could get it.i don't think he has slowed at all and it's clear to see that with every fight he perfects and gains more comfort with his game inside the ring.he knows what he should and shouldn't do and executes his skills like clockwork.i believe floyd is at his best right now

having said all of the above mayweather is not unbeatable.i would say he only gets beaten by the cream of the crop though.men that have a few particular advantages of their own

the main 3 advantages being speed of hand and foot, range and height.these 3 things would take away mayweather abillity to defend and counter so effectively.

to put it simply and without getting into it again as i have done many times before.Handspeed is needed to to past his defence.foot speed is needed to get in and out away from mayweather's lazer like counters.

range is a must.if you fire off on mayweather at a range that he finds easy to hit you from, then you will be hit but a nice bit of range spacing to throw those super fast combinations from would nullify alot of his counter punching

punches coming from a height have more power and are harder to defend from.

a prime ali's has all of these advantages.for your question you have taken away his height and in turn that makes it alot harder for him.however,of the three i listed, height is the least important advantage.a prime ali without this height advantage wins a close unanimous or split decision.ali with the height beats him by a fair margin.

Ali's advantages are the exact ones that are needed.the closest 147lb to ali (and with these quality's) was Tommy Hitman Hearns.i believe mayweather would have lost to hearns 7 times out of 10.

out of all the great welterweights i honestly beleive floyd fits nicely in the top 5 though my problem with floyd is that he never challanged himself enough to prove this.he missed out on his key fights with the likes of kostya, williams and pac

the men i give the best chance of beating him are hearns, leonard,SRR and taylor

Mayweather would win , simply because he's more accurate and he'd be a lot fitter , it wouldn't even be a close fight , I think Mayweather on all judge scorecards too .

ali got better competition...

ali will school mayweather

just lets say that ali was in fact 6t 175 pound and floyd 5'11 170 pounds .

i think floyd would handle Ali with out to much trouble ,Ali relied on his speed rather than technique and i don't think he would do a lot better than others have vs floyd .

floyd has a massive reach and i think a young Ali would be good fight but the older Ali would get easily beat.

now lets wait for the reaction!!!
