How does this Shane Mosley interview make you feel about boxing? Does something have to change?

Well I'm sure Nazim Richardson can see the deterioration. It's up to him as head trainer to ensure that his fighter is suitably advised. Sure, it would be good to have some sort of system in place, I think I'd prefer compulsory medical assessments every 2 years after the fighter reaches 30 and then those results and recommendations passed on to some central database that must be checked by every licensing authority in the world when an application for a license or license renewal is made by a fighter over 30. But as you can see, implementing this would be extremely costly and require cooperation from regulators across the world as a fighter will otherwise just get a boxing license elsewhere.

In conclusion then I think personal responsibility is better. Put your own health & wellbeing ahead of the cash, get yourself checked regularly without being told or forced to, because you want to ensure that you are going to be in good mental & physical condition in the years ahead.

Tbh it should depend on the fighter

If we forced a fighter to retire after a certain amount of rounds, then we wouldn't be necessarily praising someone as Bernard Hopkins.

Certain fighters slow down quicker than others.

Obviously Roy Jones needs to retire, and Shane Mosley too (hes prolly gonna want another comeback), but imo it should be a group of people or judges to decide if the fighter is in physical and mental shape to compete.

not nice to see.i don't think the amount of rounds thing is fair and nor will it ever work because as the other guy said each individual is different.until boxers are monitored regularly and have routine tests done on their brain as well as other key tests, this will continue to happen

boxing really needs to stop being treated like a business and more like a sport were the health of each fighter is as important as the other.under one governing body theses types of tests could be enforced and fighters like mosely could leave leave the sport with their health intact instead of being allowed to fight on even though they have blatent symptoms like the slurred speech shown here

to answer the question it makes me feel frustrated that the greatest and bravest sportmen on earth are neglected in such a way

Yeah, meldrick Taylor is an example. He should have retired after jcc. I dislike Mosley though cause of his ped, shyt talk, and robbing Oscar in the rematch.

I've always wondered how Mosley can take so many shots to the face and not be more brain damaged by now? But dyyyamn, he was just talking fine recently.

I think all the drugs they have taken over the years has a effect too.

Sugar Shane, the legend, is now slurring his words very noticeably. James Toney is much worse.

Do you guys feel that guys should be forced to retire after a certain amount of rounds to lessen the risk of debilitating conditions in later life?
