Is boxing meant to be this hard?

I still remember when I 1st started boxing in the late 1980's hobbling around for months because my calves where so extremely sore from jumping rope, also my arms, hips and shoulders were sore for at least the 1st 6 weeks but it of course gets easier as your body builds tolerance to the boxing workout.

Boxing is about physical & mental toughness. Keeping your mind focused when your body just wants to quit. It takes alot of time/energy to train a boxer. Very few boxers reach a level of professional success. Trainers/coaches often try to make first lesson the hardest to weed out those who don't have the determination. This frees them up to focus on those who are worth their time.

Yes i remember the first time i trained i was going to give up but i didnt i kept training got used to it and loved it im also sore right now from boxing yesterday but im still going today youll get used to it eventually (:

Don't give up! its hard yes we all know lucky for me before i started i was a long distance runner so i had pretty good stamina but hell was i dripping after my first time!

Yes, it will get easier over time, but you will only get less sore, you'll still get tired out by punching bags and all that.

I went for my first boxing lesson yesterday and it was too much. I was dripping with sweat and today, everything aches D: i was literally about to collapse and they wouldn't stop working me on the bags until I felt sick, will this get easier... Is this normal for a first lesson and what will my next lesson be like? It's tomorrow and I don't think I'll be strong enough, I want to do this so much but it's so much work and effort. Thankyou for all answers
