Is there any dispute now that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the greatest boxer to ever lived?

No dispute he is the best defensive fighter of all time. Unlike other greats he trains is never out of shape never had a bad night. Fighters back when fought more often because they had to if they made Mayweather money they'd fight twice a year too or less. Duran?? Quit on his stool unwritten champions code. Hearns? Big & fast but Floyd can stand in the pocket & Not be hit he's also the most accurate puncher in history. Leonard would've been a challenge but Floyd's defense would've been the difference. Sugar Ray Robinson is honestly not in Floyd's class he ended with 19 losses its window dressing because detractors who simply don't like him must think of a reason not to acknowledge what they see. The two best fighters who had a chance are rarely mentioned MELDRICK TAYLOR who had the speed quickness toughness a Philly fighter with the accumen needed, the other fought Floyd & won 4 of 6 rounds till he gassed out Zab Judah who's skillset is like Taylor's & Mayweather's. That's what it will take but no fighter in history trained loves his craft mentally tough or his the chin all in one body but Floyd Mayweather all others missed one of those traits its why he is The Best Ever. Anything else is blind, stubborn, or stupid.

He needs to fight pacquiao no matter what.

He dodge him and mosley when mosley was young and good, he did not beat Oscar easily, infact many people say Oscar won that fight. Like Floyds father. Watch the fight on youtube Oscar put up a really good fight. He also didn't beat cotto easily he had a lot of trouble. But offcourse the thought of prison might have pressured him.

Alvarez fight was pretty average and disappointing. Yea Mayweather did beat him easily.

His up their in the best like Sugar Ray Leonard. But see Leonard beat the best of the best.

I don't think Floyd will ever receive legend status like Ali or Sugar Ray Robinson, and Ali had 3 years of his prime taken away.

I can name a couple of other boxers just as good or better, but who had harder competition.

Archie Moore 131 knockouts. was 39 when he won his first title

Marvin Hagler

George Foreman he came back from a long retirement and won the heavyweight belt at age 45

if he hadn't lost faith after losing to ali he would have had a rematch and probably won.

Robert Duran

Marvin Hagler

Julio Cesar Chavez

Lennox Lewis maybe not, but I like him, his underrated a lot,

Now a boxing historian would name like ten or twenty. But usually from the late 19th early 20th century.

Guys like Robinson had over 100 fights by the time he was 36.

It's not the age that matters, it's the wear and tear.

BHops had whopped guys and he's around 50 years old because he hasn't been punished allot.

With that said; Mayweather is 1 of the best ever. He beat Alvarez in a catchweight but Alvarez was the best at 154lbs, unlike Cotto Margarito when Pacman beat him.

ps; Floyd has been knocked down. He was knocked down against Henaro officially and unofficially against Judah.

Floyd is 1 of the best ever, i think you can make an argument that he's as great as men like Leonard, but you can't name him with guys like Ali, Duran or much less Robinson.

Duran, for example, beat more hall of famers then Floyd beat paper champions. Floyd has never faced a universally recognized champion in any division, Alvarez & Baldomir were the closest thing to it. Floyd has also been accused of dodging throughout his career and he recently admitted to hand picking opponents.

Well he is definitely up there. He is arguably the most gifted fighter ever. Of course some people will say no just because they don't like Mayweather. They are just ignorant haters. I have been a hard core boxing fan since the mid eighties. Some of my favorite fighters have been Whitaker , Sugar Ray, Terry Norris. No one and I mean no one I have ever watched is as talented as Mayweather. He is just a freak. You can't hit him and you can't outbox him and he is one of the fastest fighters ever. So he is in the conversation as the greatest ever. In my opinion, yes he is.

'Sugar' Ray Robinson at one point fought every threat known and held a record of 128-1-2-84-K.O's. and the one loss he avenged

3 weeks later and eventually 5 times against Jake Lamatta, Charley Burley is one of the greatest fighters ever up there with Robinson, Mayweather is very good but no real historian would ever compare him to greats like these!

I think the only thing going against him is the lack of quality competition compared to Leonard. While he beat some great fighters, I don't think his competition ranks up to Duran, Hearns, Hagler, and Benitez. However, I don't think anyone can argue against him.

Historian? Your not a historian of boxing otherwise you'd realize that Hearns would of virtually decapitate Mayweather. If it was Duran and not Canelo in there tonight Mayweather would have been beaten. Mayweather is a great boxer no doubt, but the greatest who ever lived? Never.

The best fighter of his era, no doubt. But greatest fighter ever lived? Nah, far from it. He ain't worthy to carry Ali's or the two Sugars' jockstrap.

You do realise that the fight was at catchweight right dunghead?

He didn't fight Pacquiao in his prime....just saying

Even better than Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Sugar Ray Leonard.

At age of 36, his skills didn't diminish at all. All the other three did before they even reached 36. But, Mayweather, IMO gets better with age. And he never tasted knockdown, let alone defeat.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. might be cocky, but no one can dispute he's better than those three all time greats. The fact that he easily beat Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, JMM, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, and now Alvarez. He beat all of them easily. Who cares about the scorecards of DLH and Alvarez fight. We all know Mayweather beat Oscar 117-111 and Alvarez 119-109.

I never saw anyone able to dominate his opponents as great as Mayweather did and able to maintain his greatness till 36 and never suffer defeat.
